Great location and nice staff. However, Expedia lists this property as providing ‘free toiletries’. On arrival and check-in to the property, we were advised that toiletries in the form of toothbrush, shaving kit etc were not provided by the property. We were unable to purchase any outside the property due to limited options in the area and available stores already closing for the day. Fine with toiletries not being free, but at least make them available to be purchased from reception.

The room we got allocated to is very, very small. Space is so small that there was no way to move around the room with our luggages. We had to move the luggages whenever we want to move around. Furthermore, the toilet felt dirty with sticky floor. We were glad that our stay was only one night. Despite us reaching the hotel late, we left immediately the next morning as it was too uncomfortable in the room. We have stayed in many hotels during our stay in New Zealand and unfortunately, we had the worst experience in this hotel.

Staff were good. Food was excellent. Bedrooms were tiny - only fitted 2 beds pushed together. Electric blanket didn't work. Had to get out of bed to turn off light. Bedsight light not suitable for reading by. Heat pump not working properly. Light bulb in bathroom blown. Bathroom heater didn't work. No view except back of other units. Not value for money.

The resort is lovely, gorgeous location. Easy access to town centre and amenities. Staff were friendly and happy. Room was comfortable but be warned, if you book a standard room they are very small with no view other than a small window looking at other rooms. So small that we had to store 1 suitcase in the bathroom. Bed was comfy, bathroom is lovely. Also the standard rooms share an entrance with the larger apartments, this meant that both nights we had guests confused as to which door was theirs and trying to open our door

Great location in Tekapo, walkable to the restaurants etc. Rooms are very small, but if you only need it for sleeping, like we did, then it doesn't really matter. Would stay again.

This hotel is in a lovely setting but the room was much too small for a king size bed, no space for bags, inadequate wardrobe. In contrast the bathroom was spacious. Room was clean. Overpriced for what you got.

The lobby had a nice lounge with lake views. Plenty of parking. Is across the main road from the lake. We had a standard room which was just the bed and bathroom which was fine for our one night stay. However it was very cramped, the door barely clears the end of the bed and there was maybe 3 feet of clearance around the other sides of the bed. The bathroom was a nice shower and was overall very clean. They had shampoo, conditioner and body wash which was nice. The location is just a quick walk to the main downtown area.

The 2 bedroom apartment was horrible. There was a queue to check in and the staff wasn't really paying attention to the guests waiting behind the queue. The room was shocking as we can't even open our suitcase on the floor because the bedroom was so small. There is definitely something wrong with the design of the apartment and there was only 1 bathroom in the apartment with a leaking shower and chipped basin. I don't even know how this property got rated 4 stars in Expedia. I will not recommend this to anyone.

The one bedroom is very spacious and well equipped. Floor plan is practical make our stay very relaxed. Some furnitures need to be replaced and fixed but overall stay is excellent

However, the room size was not indicated diring reservation and the room turned out to be so small that only the bed fit, no space for even one chair. Absolutely rediculous for the rate charged. Oven auto not working and no lighter to start. Had to call for assistant. For guest, a small milk was not enough for any tea or coffee. Would be great if milk or coffee provided are as per the number of guest booked for. The beds very not single in one of the rooms as indicated while booking.

The lights in the exterior didn’t work so it was hard to find the room. Then the first thing I saw was a can of raid, so my husband wouldn’t go under the sheets in the bed. The room was extremely small & not like the photos on the website. Very disappointing

Great stay!
I had booked a few months ago and then recently saw a few recent negative reviews so I was a bit worried. However, the stay was great. We had a Mountain View villa for four people and had plenty of room. Reception staff was exceptional - especially a late night person who went above and beyond. It was easily walkable to restaurants and sights. We struggled a bit with temperature control and parking was a bit tight. It was a bit pricey for the accommodations but it was high season, so that is not unusual.

The receptionist had a cold attitude. I did not feel welcomed. It was a mechanical/ robotic way of key handover on arrival. Credit card was asked without explanation. The room was standard but was like a shoe box. In all, not a pleasant experience.

Eight of us planned the New Zealand trip long time ago. We booked 4 standard rooms 5 months ago. To our surprise, the 4 rooms we got are so tiny. The property manager told us they are actually studios and they are considered STANDARD rooms. If we knew they are studios, we will never book this type of room. The room description on Expedia.com is very misleading. If they are studios, tell people they are studios. When you tell people they are standard rooms, people will think they are STANDARD rooms. We feel your folks have ruined our trip to New Zealand. Everything else in New Zealand is good.

Friendly staff, but rooms need renovation!
I had a tower room, the views of the lake were amazing! However you have to climb 3 levels to get there, no lift is an available. The bathroom need a renovation, tiles were lifting and lots of mould and smelt very mouldy, not to the standard of peppers resort unfortunately. The highlight for me were the staff, reception staff were great and everyone that worked there seemed very friendly.

Check the hotel site before booking.
How hotels.com and how Peppers advertise the standard rooms are very different. Hotels .com lists this as simply that a standard hotel room however peppers says it’s a place only to sleep - at over $300 a night it should be a hell of a lot more than a place to sleep. There is no chair in the room which means you can only sit on the bed. If you get the luggage rack out it means you can’t get around the bed which then becomes a fire hazard. The window is very small leaving little natural light. The room is a mismatch of wires hanging from shelves (absolutely no pride or class in these rooms) the bathrooms were mouldy because the fan didn’t work and was practically hanging out the ceiling. The shower caddy had mouldy stickers on it that should have been removed 48 hours after installation - god knows how long that had been like that. The provided soap bottles were empty meaning you had to get into the shower to wash your hands. The bathroom linen was threadbare. The room was dusty - skirting boards, headboards, shelves etc all had. A layer of dust on them which means this room has not been serviced properly for some time. There is no way this room meets 4 star status and was a horrible disappointment for our stay. On check in our room was delayed even though we checked in on the specific time we were advised. The staff member said they are short staffed however they sure as hell aren’t charging short staff rates.
