"We stayed at Outrigger Resort and Spa in Kauai and it was honestly one of the most disappointing resort experiences we’ve had—especially for the price and how it’s advertised. First off, the biggest issue: the “spa” was completely closed for construction. This was never clearly communicated ahead of time, and it’s a major reason people book a resort and spa. If we had known the spa was closed, we would have never booked this property. Marketing it that way while one of the main amenities is unavailable is extremely misleading. The property itself is in serious need of maintenance. Our bathtub was peeling and deteriorating, which is unacceptable in any hotel, let alone something claiming to be a resort. The room had a constant musty smell, and overall felt damp and poorly maintained. Throughout the property there were visible leaks everywhere—buckets, towels, and caution signs set up in hallways, common areas, and even inside the gift shop catching water. That’s not a minor issue, that’s a widespread problem. There are also clear signs of ongoing construction and neglect. Entire areas were shut down with “Danger” and “Construction Zone” signs, and access points were blocked off. At times it felt like we were staying in the middle of a work site, not a relaxing vacation destination. On top of that, there were safety concerns. Wet, slippery floors were common, ceilings showed visible damage with peeling paint, and parts of the building looked like they hadn’t been properly maint"

"Request a room off the first level, away from the elevators and away from staff areas. We were on the first floor and could hear every door closed, when the staff would go in and out of their areas, etc."

"The location and outlook (right in the beach) is great and the price was reasonable. The property and the room felt shabby. Our bathroom door had a hole in it that was just covered up with tape. The staff were a little surly and made me feel awkward asking for anything. "

"Solid for a Hilton Garden Inn. If you're expecting a resort, you won't find it. But it's great place if you're honest with expectations. Great location for families with beach and playgrounds steps away. "

"This was our second stay at this particular resort and it was lovely other than the weather. "

"My husband & I booked a villa for a month-long stay. He has residual physically difficulties as a result of strokes he suffered in 2006.The first several days were highly stressful. I specifically selected a villa with a roll-in shower. Prior to our departure from CT, I called to confirm the bathroom in our villa was handicap accessible with a roll-in shower. I was advised the reservation did not include these requirements. The reservation was updated to include the requirement. Upon check-in we were advised we were assigned temporary accommodations (2 days) until a unit with a roll-in shower would be available. The villa we moved to on the 3rd day also DID NOT have a roll-in shower. A step-up/in shower is not safe for him. We contacted the front desk to have a supervisor witness the unsafety of him entering & exiting the shower. The maintenance staff made every effort to make the shower in the villa safe but could not. Ultimately, we were moved to a 3rd (upgraded) villa in a much nicer (quieter) section with the required bathroom accommodations. After the accommodation issues were resolved the remainder of the stay was highly pleasant. The front end & maintenance staff were very professional & responsive. The cleaning staff did a good job & was also very pleasant. The property & villas are well maintained & pretty."

"The property was well kept, except there was an odor of stale smoke in the condo for the duration of our stay. Also the property was quite a bit removed from any store or restaurant (we needed to use a car to get to and from Princeville, the nearest town). The staff was great and the location meant that the only noises were the crows of the roosters and calls of the birdlife."
