Elite World Istanbul Taksim

2/10 Terrible

"The cleanliness, breakfast or services did not meet 5 star standards. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and this is around 3 star worthy. We had a wet carpet for our entire stay and hotel staff clearly just didn’t understand or try to understand what we was saying. We had to request new towels daily & our room was only cleaned once on a 4 night stay. Cleaning staff enter the room despite the clearly displayed sign left us feeling uncomfortable and unsafe, on two occasions (one morning) and we do not believe this was handled appropriately at all. We were additionally disappointed with the breakfast. The breakfast selection had very little variety. Although we paid for breakfast as part of our stay, we only ate there once and ended up purchasing breakfast elsewhere for the remainder of the trip due to the poor experience. Spa tried to charge us full price despite online stating 20% off for people staying in the hotel - when queried she offered 15% off instead - booked this hotel for the spa experience and did not end up doing! Located in a good place where most things are walking distance."

"The room was great but a bit hot at the beginning. Then the AC was fixed and it was very comfortable. We appreciated the 2 bottles of water provided regularly lot. The breakfast was excellent with many choices that changed a bit every day. This is a bonus as we stayed there for 6 nights and one would want some variety. The hotel is on a lovely side street. The staff is helpful and friendly."

Elysian Airport Hotel & Restaurant

"Stayed in a Triple with a Balcony. The room was beautiful, the bathroom had a lovely shower and a small hamam basin, which was a nice touch. Upon arrival at 3:00pm, our room was not yet ready and we thus had to wait in reception for around 15 minutes before being able to check in - this was not a huge inconvenience, but less than ideal after coming off a long flight. Biggest issue was that we were informed by reception that the hotel does not allow guests to order in food, and given the hotel is not particularly close to many restaurants or options, guests are effectively forced to order from the hotel's restaurant. I personally think that's ridiculous and inconvenient from a guest services perspective. The hotel's restaurant was fine, though a tad pricey, and had a variety of options, but this type of restriction on my choices as a guest at a hotel drives me crazy. Other thing to be aware of is that the hotel is quite close to a mosque and the morning call to prayer was quite loud (early June, 4:30am). I am a very heavy sleeper and live in Turkey, thus am accustomed to the call to prayer and never wake up to it at home, but in our room at this hotel it would have been impossible to sleep through - light sleepers beware."

Hotel Arcadia Blue Istanbul

"Mr Emir at the reception was exemplary, but it ends there! The housekeeping were hit and miss, but mostly miss. Breakfast staff on top floor were not polite and showed bad attitude. The property only and only makes up the positive reviews for it’s location and views, but the hotel itself is very old and dated and needs a massive and thorough renovation. Air condition works but so-so and breakfast just does the job (ONLY JUST). I think a 2/5 star rating overall is adequate, however, I was seriously considering giving them a 1 star review, but that would have been too harsh. They said the hotel was fully booked but I really think it wasn’t and I only ever heard other stayers at the hotel commending the views and nothing else. Apparently there has been a change of ownership in the last few years and the last known renovation was in 2013, so these new owners have neglected the property BIG TIME! I wouldn’t advise against staying here, as I’ve stayed at worse properties, but I would warn to be EXTREMELY cautious and if you need more water in addition to the two bottles that they are supposed to put in the room each day, but don’t always, I would suggest buying from the local shop. It’s rated a 4 star hotel, but more 3 star in my honest opinion. I’ve stayed at the nearby Sura Design Boutique property and also the Doubletree by Hilton Sirkeci hotel and they are both rated 4 star, but they are miles and skies above the standards of Hotel Arcadia Blue. It was always too dark here."

"Great location right in the heart of Taksim. Our room had an amazing view, which was definitely the highlight of our stay. While the room was a bit small for two people, the stunning view more than made up for it. A special thank you to our housekeeper, Bedriye, who was incredibly kind and kept our room spotless every day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!"

Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center

8/10 Good

"Everything was great. The only thing I can only complain about it is that the AC in my room wasn’t working. I went there to her surgery and I put the Hilton because he has a very good reputation and is supposed to be comfortable however the AC in my room was broken. I have to call the people to fix it a couple of times. It’s not the conditions I want to be when you are going to surgery and you just wanna chill and recover room temperature was sometimes 28°. I was swearing it was very uncomfortable. You definitely don’t fly 12 hours to get surgery and chill in a room that is 28°."
