The best area to stay in Four is the village centre itself, particularly around the Mairie (Town Hall) and the main square.

This area is the heart of Four, offering immediate access to local amenities and a sense of community. You'll find the local boulangerie, a small grocery shop, and a couple of traditional restaurants within easy walking distance. The village is compact, so everything feels close by.

For couples looking for a tranquil escape, staying in the village centre provides a delightful base. You can enjoy strolls along the quiet streets, visit the local church, and experience the slower pace of rural French life. It's an ideal spot for unwinding and enjoying each other's company without the distractions of a busier town.

Families will also find the village centre convenient. With essentials close at hand, it simplifies daily routines. The open spaces around the Mairie offer a pleasant spot for children to play, and the calm environment ensures a relaxing holiday for everyone.

The best time to go to Four is during the late spring (May-June) or early autumn (September-October) when the weather is pleasant and the region is less crowded.

Late spring offers comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 22°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the natural parks. The countryside is lush and green, and local markets are abundant with fresh produce. This period is particularly good for couples looking for scenic walks and culinary experiences without the peak summer crowds.

Early autumn provides similar agreeable temperatures, usually between 12°C and 18°C, and the changing colours of the leaves create a beautiful backdrop for exploring. September and October are excellent for those interested in local festivals, wine tasting, and mushroom foraging, offering a more relaxed and authentic experience. Solo travellers might find this time appealing for its peaceful atmosphere and opportunities to engage with local culture.

While summer (July-August) is also popular, it can be quite warm and busy, especially in more well-known spots.
