• The result of sustained periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect passengers on long-distance flights. Reduce the risks by drinking water, keeping your legs and feet moving and wearing compression socks or tights.

The trick is to be well prepared before you reach the airport security gate. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Carmel in no time at all. Follow these helpful tips and get your holiday off to a terrific start:

• Be sure to have your passport and travel documents at hand. They'll be the first things you'll be asked for by security.
