"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Samba Vallarta. The staff were the shining stars of the vacation. From service staff such as Jose and Genaro to the doorman Guadalupe, to Carmen and the young gentleman lending out towels and boogie boards, to the activity leaders and kids club workers, all were extremely kind, professional, talkative and helpful!! The resort itself was older and reflective of the cost, with simple but clean rooms and very comfortable beds. The pool was great and the beach was awesome! The majority of the guests were families on summer vacation from within Mexico, which made it feel unlike a typical resort with mostly English speakers from North America. Lastly the food was excellent. There was always a variety of authentic Mexican offerings at the buffet, which is exactly what we were looking for. The two restaurants were also very good and we went to each of them twice. We chose to tip the wait staff, though there was never any pressure to do so, and the service didn't change wether you did or didn't. Overall it was a very memorable trip for my family and we are keen to go again! If you are looking for an affordable trip and aren't fussy about an older resort it's definitely a great choice!"

"Pleasantly surprised by the recent renovation! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel's recent renovation. I stayed here a few years ago when it was the Riu Jalisco, and that experience left me with a bad impression of Riu hotels, which led me to avoid the chain entirely. Fortunately, I decided to give it another chance this time, only to find that both the restaurants and rooms have been completely renovated. At this particular hotel, the party never stops. The entertainment staff is great, and the Neon Party on Fridays creates a fantastic atmosphere that keeps the energy going. I wouldn’t recommend it for a family vacation with small children, but it is definitely one of the best options if you're looking for a trip with friends where the party never ends."

"Great activities and entertainment for the family! Staff are friendly and accommodating except for the person at the beach side (old man in charge of the umbrella.) I wasn’t happy with his service. I asked for our umbrella to be opened several times but didn’t bother with my request instead he gave our umbrella to someone else."

"Good overall experience, but specialty dining reservations need major improvement Overall, we had a good experience. Our room in the newest building was spacious, with a great view of the pool and partial ocean. However, the A/C made a loud noise during its first 20 seconds, which woke up my family at night. The buffet food was decent but average, though the weekend morning menudo and birria were surprisingly good for an all-inclusive in Nuevo Vallarta. Specialty restaurants were acceptable but not much better than the buffet. The biggest issues were the reservation system and the concierge staff. To book specialty dining, you must scan a QR code and create an account, but it only allows booking 2 days out. The platform never worked for our group of three couples (aged 35-40, all tech-savvy). We had to visit the concierge daily, where we faced bad attitudes and reluctance. It felt like they made it difficult on purpose to discourage us from using these restaurants. Fortunately, this does not reflect the rest of the staff. Waiters, bartenders, and housekeeping were incredibly friendly. Special thanks to Miguel Martínez at the buffet for his outstanding service. It is a shame that the concierge desk, which should excel in hospitality, lacked it the most."
