"Hotel is in a fabulous location for visiting Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Our stay was a slightly mixed experience - mostly very good. The front desk staff were excellent and super helpful. One of the team sought us out when I’d inadvertently left the hire car running in the car park (thank you!). The restaurant staff who received us seemed a bit grumpy that we’d not made a reservation and our presence seemed a bit of an inconvenience to them - we were made to pay for a poor breakfast buffet before we were sat down. That said the fish’n’chips for dinner was absolutely superb!! The pint of Caledonia from the bar was one of the best beers I’ve ever had in my life!! It tasted like nectar, it had a creamy consistency and the head stayed all the way to the bottom of the glass. Absolutely fantastic after hiking Ben Lomond! The rooms were very good, spacious and clean and the facilities (pool, sauna, gym) were brilliant. The sitting room and the conservatory were lovely with very comfy, sofas. Generally the hotel is a bit “tired” and could do with some investment to brighten it up. I would happily stay here again and would recommend it - for the rooms, the facilities, the beer, the relaxation area and the lunches/dinners. I would just suggest having breakfast in “Skoosh” 100metres up the road from the hotel."

"I knew this would be a basic room in a "budget hotel". I just needed somewhere close to Edinburgh Airport for a morning flight. I just did not think it could be so basic. On arrival the reception lobby and hallways reeked of smoke. The room was old and very verytired, a bit like me. However, one power socket, ( no USB), one light for the whole room, one plastic chair, one chap hook for a towel and one shabby broken bedside cabinet... Not so pleasant.. On the plus, side, the beddings were clean and fresh.."

"From the very unhelpful reception to the worn out beds and sticky taped remote control, would not be my choice again. Having to push for service in the restaurant and seemed like everything was just too much for them. Very unhelpful. Maintenance guy was great and more helpful than everyone else."

"I was there to attend my friend's wedding, the rooms are dated but reasonably clean. On checking out the next morning I was made to feel really uncomfortable when the woman on reception said I had not settled my bill for the over night stay and when I proceeded to look out the paid receipt again on my phone she abruptly said" on my system it is outstanding". then after another awkward minute she remarked oh it is paid then stood up and walked away through to the back office with no apology."

Broomhall Castle Hotel

8/10 Good

"Very large, clean and comfortable room. Staff were outgoing and attentive to any of our needs. I was hoping for a more authentic castle experience, but furnishings were basic and a bit worn out. The restaurant service was slow due to under-staffing, but the staff were all friendly and engaging and the food was good. Overall, a comfortable stay, but don't expect much of an experience."

Apex Dunblane Hydro Hotel

6/10 Okay

"I understand Apex have just recently taken this property over. Extremely disappointed to be honest. The soundproofing throughout is terrible, didn’t get much sleep due to an ongoing wedding taking place, I used to love coming here when Hilton had it, can’t see me returning, rooms feel dated and in need of work, I was in room 235, windows rotten and due to the interconnected rooms, I could hear every conversation from the room next door, from the outside hotel looks lovely but that’s where it ends unfortunately."
