As a couple we didn’t really need a 2bd apt but were glad to have the extra space as the main bedroom robe area was small (owner had locked cupboard space) and awkwardly positioned in front of the ensuite entrance. The main bedroom was average in size, but felt larger due to the open hatch above the bed but the bed size was too small & the mattress quite hard. So we struggled to get a decent night's sleep. "My husband and I stayed a week in late August 2026. We prefer 2 rooms as we get older. The information regarding distances to Macrossan Street and the beach was very accurate. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The pool is small and shared by 8 units but I never saw anyone else and I swam every day. If we return to Port Douglas we would have no hesitation in staying at Paperbark Cottage again."

"Villa Mercedes is ideal for a group of friends or family. The stairs are an issue for very young children but apart from that our family had a great stay. Only a few minutes walk to everything you need in Pt Douglas. Clean and well equipped."
