"The biggest con for this resort was the 1/2 mile walk from valet parking to our room. There’s a tram but you can walk faster than the tram. The coffee in the rooms was subpar so if you wanted a good cup, you had to go down and pay another $6-$8 bucks for just drip coffee. The dishwasher didn’t work for three days but housekeeping did help with that. If you don’t want to leave the resort, there’s a ton of amenities. Otherwise, it’s just too big. I would’ve saved a thousand dollars by staying at an air bnb and still done less work than we did here. The pros were that we had a nice view and the property was beautiful."

"I do not typically write reviews but this property warranted it and not in a good way. The property is massive. It’s literally a hike to and from the rooms to the lobby depending on the “tower” they put you in. The good news is there was a tram. The bad news is that it was rarely operational during our stay. When it was working, the air temperature in the cars was sub arctic. So cold we opted to walk despite the distances. Hence my marks for how well the property was maintained. Something that critical for guest comfort on a property that size should be in constant and pristine working order. Speaking of cold, they should try heating the pool. That was a chief complaint of my family and others we chatted with at the pool. Again, it’s about comfort. While I am on about the pool, two times the “pool towel” dispensers were empty and the towels were old and ratty. Even more empty was the service at the pool cabanas and we rented cabanas for three days of our stay. To be fair, one of three days there was “ok” service. Other than that the rooms were clean and sufficient. However, I feel they were over priced. Not only do I not recommend this resort. I will never stay there again…"

"We really enjoyed our stay at this Waikaloa Shores unit. Leading up to our stay the communication with the host was great. Upon arrival the check-in instructions were perfectly clear and the unit was very clean. The condo had all the amenities we needed for the week. We loved the Waikaloa area as a base to explore the entire Big Island. Once done exploring for the day, we found it a very short walk to the beach to catch the amazing sunsets. I would highly recommend this unit and I will definitely search for this unit again should we return to the Big Island."

"Upon check-in I learned that booking through Expedia cancels any benefits of a Bonvoy member (breakfasts, upgrades, etc). The hotel was not very helpful and dismissed the issue, Expedia support was worthless and never responded. I would never use Expedia again for a Marriott, or other major brand, hotel reservation if you have earned status. The fitness center is very basic, and doesn't appear to have been update since our last stay, years ago. The food options are very limited, and expensive . The pool bar is also very basic, using machine dispensers for blended drinks and no good options for kids. They had beach cruisers, complimentary. which are fun and the concierge was very helpful."

"Everything was nearly perfect!! Just 3 minor things: indicate exactly where at Hilton Waikoloa we need to go for wrist bands - we had to ask the concierge there..... in our case, we never did get the bands, too busy with other events!!! But the parking validation needs to be done with the bell captain. Lastly, we did not know this unit was at the back of Shores at Waikoloa, which added quite a bit of walking distance to the Hilton, King's Shops, etc..... not a big deal but we ended up driving out more often than I had hoped."

"I cannot say enough positive things about this property and the overall experience. The owners were friendly, thoughtful, and quick to respond. The unit was clean, comfortable, and extremely well stocked with everything you could possibly need. I will absolutely stay again when visiting the big Island. This is a great spot in a wonderful location. Thank you!"

Paradise Found - The Shores at Waikoloa Beach Resort

"First, our host, Lin Tottle, was awesome. We had a communication glitch (not Lin's fault) and we didn't have the correct gate code or info on how to get into the condo. I texted Lin about our difficulties and she replied almost immediately. The condo was spacious and nicely furnished and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. The outdoor sitting area was spacious and has comfortable chairs and a nice table. The bathroom was spacious with double sinks and the shower was wonderful. My wife and I had a wonderful time and highly recommend this unit."
