"We stayed at a machiya converted to a ryokan for 2 nights. I specifically picked a room with western style beds (vs futon on tatami). The place was exquisitely charming. The staff was extremely warm, friendly and helpful. We opted for the breakfast which was prepared carefully - we enjoyed it immensely. The location was a few blocks from the Kyoto train station but very quiet. My only suggestion is to add a bidet to our toilet - I've come to appreciate bidets since I stayed in a regular...

"A very comfortable stay and the location is everything! Very close to Amanohashidate station, easily 3 mins walk. The double room has its own toilet and bathroom ( together, a small one). I think there is no elevator, I had to bring my luggage on the stairs ( but i stayed on level 2). I had the breakfast with the room - most if not all are seafood and vegetarian dishes which i really enjoy."
