"Ufford seems like it could be a great place to stay and while I did enjoy my time there, a few gripes really marred the experience. Firstly the room felt tired and worn out. Bedclothes smelt musty and unwashed. The plug in the bath didn't work and had to operated with a spoon. The taps wobbled. A little TLC would go a long way. The room tea and coffee were enough for one cup each. The real kicker though was the breakfast service. Utterly chaotic, with staff milling around and no sense of control, each instruction or assistance came from other exasperated hotel guests. The hot breakfast items were taken away half filled are people were trying to get to them. The coffee machine was broken with a queue of 20 people while a number of staff hid behind the bar. I didn't bother going on my 2nd day. More importantly. The staff do not make you feel welcome at all. They avoid eye contact and there is no sense of management presence at all. Maybe this was an Easter weekend issue. But a great hotel is the people who work there. "

"Great parking. Rooms are clean / shower was a little broken Half the lockers in spa do not work. Massage was good. Dinner was good. Breakfast we were a few mins before closing they wouldn’t let us in. Beautiful grounds. "

"I was very pleasantly surprised by my stay at The George hotel. In my opinion it is good enough to be a 4 star hotel not a 3 as advertised. The decor, the staff and cooked breakfast was marvellous, perfect poached eggs. The staff were all friendly too. Will definitely stay there again when I am in town. Thank you 😊 "

"Wivenhoe House Hotel was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. The ambience in the dining room added to the experience, striking just the right balance between relaxed and refined. Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive. There was a generous selection to choose from, with both continental options and perfectly cooked hot dishes. Everything was fresh, high quality, and served with the same attentive care we experienced the night before. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with lovely views of the surrounding grounds—making it very easy to unwind and enjoy the peaceful setting. "
