St. James' Court, A Taj Hotel, London

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Felt really well cared for during our stay! Property is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained."

Otherwander Soho Pod Hotel (ADULTS ONLY)

10/10 Excellent

"Otherwander is very convenient and well equipped. Pods won't be for everyone but I have no complaints, comfortable and quiet. Bathrooms are really good - would be 5 stars but a couple of the sinks were blocked. You'd struggle to find somewhere as nice for the price anywhere near the centre of London."

Bob W London Hyde Park

10/10 Excellent

"Great stay! Good location - short walk down to the buses or metro. Lots of food options around. Rooms are small - tight but we only were there to change and sleep so it was perfect. Beds were comfortable - small when you’re coming from a King but did the job for the 4 nights we were there. We were on the 3rd floor and could hear the subway at night and in the morning as we like to sleep with the window open. You could still hear it with the window closed but wasn’t too bad. Shower was incredible - great water pressure and the shower rain fall was perfect. Staff were always very helpful and friendly. It says there is no staff on hand but there was always someone at the desk. We felt the area was as safe and walkable at night. Our only complaint was that there was only 1 elevator as one was out of service. It made it difficult when staff were cleaning as they seemed to be using it constantly. The elevator is also very small and only good for 2-3 people. But most times we took the stairs anyways. we loved our stay and would highly recommend for the price we paid. Great fine!"

Marlin Waterloo

10/10 Excellent

"Conveniently located to major attractions, short walking distance to the Waterloo Station, lots of amenities within minutes of walking. The room was very well appointed and extremely clean, staff were professional and always eager to help and answer questions, even though the hotel was on a busy street I found the room was able to block out almost all of the traffic noise and made it pleasant to sleep at night. I definitely will stay again!"

When is the best time to go to Coombe Hill?

The best time to go to Coombe Hill is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is generally pleasant and the natural scenery is at its most appealing.

During spring, the surrounding woodlands burst into life with wildflowers, and the vibrant green landscape offers excellent opportunities for walking and outdoor activities. The temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 10°C to 20°C, making it comfortable for exploring the Coombe Hill viewpoint and the surrounding Chiltern Hills. This season is particularly good for couples looking for scenic strolls and picturesque views without the summer crowds.

Autumn brings a spectacular display of changing leaf colours across the beech woodlands, creating a stunning backdrop for walks and photography. The air is crisp, and temperatures usually fall between 8°C and 15°C. This period is ideal for solo travellers seeking a tranquil escape and those who appreciate the beauty of nature. The quieter trails offer a peaceful experience, great for reflection and enjoying the expansive views from the monument.

While summer (July and August) can also be lovely, it tends to be busier with more visitors, and winter (November to March) can be cold and wet, potentially limiting outdoor enjoyment.
