A great quiet spot. Had to borrow a porta cot on the day as we forgot ours. Nothing was a problem. Our cabin was nice and close to the beach. Kids loved the play parks. The bed was super comfy! Think we will be back!

Great location. Very close to the beach and not too far away from the centre of Port Macquarie.
Rooms were very clean, modern and looked like new. Lovely crockery and kitchen utensils (all were in excellent condition and were good quality). Had an air conditioning unit and TV with Netflix available which was nice.
Rooms are quite small but had all the essentials. Would recommend.

Beautiful location, the cabins, while not huge, were well appointed, modern and clean. The park is well maintained and flat, the camp sites appeared large. The camp kitchen is excellent and they also have a great little putt putt golf course. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The cost is reasonable.

We booked a one bedroom apartment for the two of us for a last minute getaway. The apartment was new, stylish, spacious and extremely clean. The lady who greeted us at reception was professional, very welcoming and helpful. The Mantra is really well located being in the center of town, but surprisingly quiet at night.

This area is the heart of Bonny Hills' beach culture. You'll find direct access to the main patrolled beach, which is popular for swimming and surfing. The beachfront features amenities like picnic areas, playgrounds, and walking paths that connect to other coastal tracks. It's an easy stroll to local cafes and the Bonny Hills Surf Lifesaving Club.
Families will find this central beach area ideal. Being right by the main beach means kids can easily go for a swim or play in the sand, and the nearby parks offer additional space for recreation. The convenience of having everything within walking distance means less time spent travelling and more time enjoying the seaside.
For couples looking for a relaxing beach escape, staying close to the main beach provides easy access to morning walks along the shore and evenings watching the sunset over the ocean.
What is the best time of year to stay in a beach hotel in Bonny Hills?
The most popular time to stay in a beach hotel in Bonny Hills is during the Australian summer, specifically from December to February. The weather is beautifully warm, with average temperatures ranging from 25°C to 28°C, which is fantastic for enjoying the pristine beaches and taking a dip in the ocean.
During this peak period, the coastal town hums with activity, making it a great time for families seeking a vibrant beach holiday. All water sports and beachside activities are in full swing, and you'll find plenty of opportunities for surfing, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing on the sand. It's also when many local events and markets take place, adding to the lively option.
For travellers looking for a slightly quieter experience with similar delightful weather, April presents a wonderful alternative. The temperatures remain very pleasant, typically around 20°C to 23°C, which is still ideal for beach activities and coastal walks.
What beach activities should we do in Bonny Hills?
For beach activities in Bonny Hills, you'll want to focus on the main Bonny Hills Beach and the nearby Lake Cathie.
Bonny Hills Beach is the primary spot for traditional beach experiences. It's a long, sandy stretch popular for swimming, surfing, and relaxing on the sand. You'll find the Bonny Hills Surf Life Saving Club located here, which often has flags indicating patrolled swimming areas during peak seasons. The beach also has good access points for those wanting to take a stroll along the shore.
Families often find Bonny Hills Beach ideal due to its expansive nature and the presence of the surf club. Children can enjoy building sandcastles, splashing in the waves, and playing in the open space. The beach is also a great place for a picnic with views of the ocean.
Lake Cathie, just a short drive north, offers a different kind of water activity. This coastal lake is generally much calmer than the ocean, making it superb for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and fishing. There are often calm, shallow areas suitable for younger children to splash around in.
Couples looking for a peaceful aquatic experience might prefer Lake Cathie. You can rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the calm waters together, perhaps even spotting some local birdlife.
