Clean room, staff excellent, swim up pool lovely

The hotel is quite a distance from town perhaps a courtesy ride into town would be beneficial..there isn't a beach to swim at... breakfast was okay

This is a loverly beach front resort in a peaceful quiet area of Kao Lak. The staff are very friendly and helpful, giving any assistance required. There is a travel desk in the foyer to book outside trips or arrange extra actives. The restaurant and it's staff are all excellent and the food great. There are 2 bars with afternoon happy hours serving cocktails and beers. 2 very nice pools - one beachfront the other next to the small onsite supermarket. There is also a free shuttle bus running into the near part of town to get some local culture. The beach is loverly and clean and uncrowded, but suffering some erosion from high tides. Good local attractions make up for its distance from the main areas of Phuket.

We absolutely loved our stay at Merlin - in fact we are still here as we extended our stay with the hotel because we decided we didn’t need to go anywhere else for a truly magical and relaxing stay. We feel immersed in nature - surrounded by incredibly beautiful trees and we saw a slow loris during our night tour! The pools are so lush with vegetation all around them - we spent hours just milling around in what felt like a jungle pool, complete with waterfalls! The staff are all so lovely and super attentive, but with the most relaxed and easy going manner. I found myself quite envious of the people who work here - they honestly seem to be very happy in their work and well looked after. We didn’t go all inclusive and slightly regret that, as it wasn’t a lot more on top and means that, even if you only eat here half the time, it will probably be worth it. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back! Thank you so much everyone at Merlin - we will see you again as soon as possible! 😊
