Search West Point hotels

The best area to stay in West Point is in the heart of the village, particularly around Main Street and the immediate surrounding blocks.

This central area offers the most convenience for visitors. Main Street is where you'll find the local shops, eateries, and the community's main gathering spots. It's a compact and easily walkable area, giving you direct access to the essentials and a feel for village life.

For couples seeking a quiet retreat with convenient access to nature, staying in the village centre is ideal. You're close enough to pick up supplies for a picnic or enjoy a meal out, yet just a short drive from scenic spots like the Mokelumne River for fishing or hiking. The relaxed pace of the village makes it a great base for unwinding.

Families will also find staying in the main village practical. With local amenities within easy reach, it simplifies planning for meals and activities.

The best time to go to West Point, California, is typically during the late spring to early autumn months, from May to October, when the weather is most favourable for outdoor activities.

During these months, you can expect warm, sunny days and comfortable evenings, which are ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada foothills. This period avoids the colder temperatures and potential snow of winter, and the intense heat that can sometimes occur in mid-summer in the Central Valley lowlands.

For those interested in hiking, fishing, or simply enjoying the scenic landscapes, May, June, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures without the peak summer crowds. The foliage in autumn also provides a beautiful backdrop for photography and drives.
