The Royal Lodge

"Nice big room. Comfy bed. Friendly staff. Had our little dog with us and although a LOT of dog rules, she was allowed in most places. We only had continental breakfast which wss adequate. Full breakfast looked generous. We ate one night at the restaurant which was good. Sadly the view not idea with temporary kitchens that look lile they will be there a while."

"We enjoyed our short break at the Apple Store. It was all well equipped and comfortable. Lovely view from the side garden too. Sarah was very helpful and friendly. Our son enjoyed stroking Taylor the sheep next door. We hope to be back again."

"This is a lovely property liked by all our multigenerational family group. We were spoilt with good weather so could live outside and enjoy the space, views and privacy it afforded. The pool was a great attraction as was the large TV for Englands World Cup match! It is a good location to explore the Wye Valley, we didn’t use cars at all as there was so much to access on foot. We would recommend the boat cruise which had a very informative commentary.Chrystel was very responsive to queries."

"Secluded and tranquil location.Beds were very comfortable Local walks on the doorstep so we didn’t need to use the car after parking up. Nice decked area for relaxing after a long walk.Kitchen had everything we needed. 2 pubs within walking distance, both serving lovely food. We used the manned ferry to cross on a couple of occasions which was fun and a very quick way to get to the pub on the other side of the river (Saracens Head). We did also enjoy the scenic walk along the river and across the bridge which is just under 3 miles.Overall a great cottage for a short break in a beautiful location."

"Really nice little studio with excellent location for Forest of Dean hiking — only a few minutes to the middle of the woods and you can forget all about noisy roads and cars. Kitchen was well stocked with a little grill, air fryer, microwave etc all working great. The location is a bit far from the center of Coleford but there’s a nearby shop with grocery basics and long hours. Highly recommend if you would prefer a quieter location with good proximity to day hikes. Paul always messaged back quickly and though we did not meet I felt well taken care of."

"We are a family of 8 adults and stayed at this beautiful house for my mum's 80th birthday weekend. It was perfect and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Although we had visited Symonds Yat for days out many times over the years, it was great to experience this picturesque spot after the day trippers had left and it became incredibly quiet and peaceful. The house itself was top quality with stunning views from all bedrooms and the patio. The spacious kitchen and dining areas were well equipped and had everything you could want to cater for a large family. I would absolutely recommend a stay at the Weir house to anyone. We would all love to stay again, perhaps for my mum's 90th!"

"Lovely views the hosts were very welcoming. The wild life was great its not everyday that you can be sitting outside, with deer wondering through your back garden . The local pubs were good value and staff very accommodating lThe cottage itself was very clean and had all you would require for a short stay."
