The property was so very beautiful. We got to use the pool for 2days and the garden and house game activities are brilliant to keep the children and adults amused. Plenty of utensils and crockery are available and we all (10 ) got to share meals together around the large dining table. Lovely local pub which is walkable from the house and we found the butterfly farm amazing. Nobody wanted to leave and we all wished that it could be our own home.
We've just stayed at Riversdale Lodge over Christmas as a family of 11 from aged 3 months to 90 and the house was perfect for all of us!
The house itself is very spacious and has a lovely communal living area and dining room.
It's in a great location to visit local towns by car and the Ye old Ferrie in is a wonderful local pub a 20 minute or so walk away.
The kitchen is very well equipped and had everything we needed to cook for a large party.
Chrystel is a fantastic host and very responsive whenever we needed anything. Would love to come to back in the summer and experience the house and gardens in the summer!
The house is superbly located, ideal size for our group of 11 retired siblings with partners and the view is fabulous . We were only able to use the pool on one day due to the weather but it was a good temperature and very enjoyable. Pre visit we were given lots of useful information about the local by our helpful hostess Chrystel which enabled us to plan some walks and trips. There are some lovely local walks and pubs meaning you don't necessarily have to drive, very useful if you all want to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. Whilst the property is lovely it is probably due for some redecoration and a bit of an upgrade but that being said it didn't detract at all from our holiday and we had a wonderful break.
The house is big. Plenty of room around tables for eating, lounge area nice big sofa’s.
Pool at an amazing 29 degrees (couldn’t keep the children out and some of the adults).
Pub Ye Old Ferrie Inn (recommend by owner) brilliant food really nice and an easy walk.
View from house over river wye awesome.
Plenty of fun on pool table and table football.
No complaints about the beds.
Plenty of everything there to make your stay comfortable.
Close to all activities you may want to do.
All my family were impressed with the house.
Chrystel was there waiting to meet us and walked around house explaining anything we needed to know.
Chrystel advised on the end of the phone if needed (we didn’t need to contact)
Again lovely house and would definitely return.
Eight members of our family spent a lovely long weekend at Riversdale Lodge to celebrate two 80th birthdays and everyone had a fantastic time.
The house is lovely and in a gorgeous setting - we felt totally relaxed immediately on arrival. The beds are very comfortable, the communal spaces inside and out were spacious and everything needed was provided.
We spent much of our time outdoors; the garden provided everything to keep our grandgirls happy - a warm pool, a zip wire and a trampoline - no chance of them being bored for a second! The adults loved the pool, too - the weather was a bit cool following some hot weather, but the water was pleasantly warm.
We loved having the gate to the river, where wild swimming in the Wye was greatly enjoyed by the girls as well as adults, along with pleasant walks. The sound of the river at all times was delightful.
Besides cooking meals in the very well-equipped kitchen we enjoyed meals at Ye Olde Ferrie Inn and also ate at The Saracens Head Inn, crossing via the hand-pulled ferry - free of charge if having a meal at the inn.
Chrystel was an excellent host, who provided a splendid welcome and excellent information. We would recommend Riversdale Lodge to anyone considering a stay in the area with a group of family or friends and we would love to return.
Beautiful house in an even more beautiful location!
Our 3rd time staying here as a family of 14. The house has everything that you need for a lovely stay, the owner was excellent on comms, and the locations is simply stunning. We’ll be back again for sure!
A wonderful family friendly house. Breath taking views and revitalising woodland walks along the river. Great garden and a well equipped property with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and entertaining. Highly recommend this beautiful holiday home.
Beautiful house with a fantastic view of the river Wye. Extremely clean and decorated to a high standard. Excellent facilities indoors and outdoors including zip wire, trampoline and large garden. Plenty of parking. Road narrow in parts. Prompt and very good communication with owner. We are planning to return next year.
Wonderful property in the most beautiful location.
This property was more than big enough for all 14 of us. Extremely well equipped. Gorgeous garden with plenty of room for the children (and grown ups!) to play.
The numerous en suites made getting ready to go out very easy. The view to the river was amazing, we could have sat there watching it all day. We are planning to go back in the future.
We were a party of 12 adults , with an elderly parent, children and grand children. The house is superbly located with a gate onto the riverbank, a wonderful warm swimming pool, zipline, trampoline and small lawns for playing and chilling. The facilities inside the house are great, too: everything necessary for cooking and dining either indoors or out, and plenty of places to sit and chat or play together. The location is wonderful too .. 10 minutes walk from all the major canoe hire companies, a great pub and close to many local attractions, including nearby Monmouth. Really I can't imagine any better location for a perfect Symonds Yat getaway.
Symonds Yat is stunning! Beautiful walks from the doorstep, great pubs, lots to do for all the family. The house itself is a bit tired and lacking in a few basics like clothes drying stands, hand soap in all the bathrooms, and toiletry storage space in showers. The path to the river was also completely overgrown and unusable when we were there.

Served us well for weekend break of 3 families
Set in a lovely spot, great for exploring symond Yat and walks by the river. Loved the ol Ferry Inn, tasty food and walking distance from the house. Good to catch the boat over to the other side as well to the other good pub. Recommend the river trip and canoeing looked fun (book early!). Host was very helpful with all the arrival & leaving instructions and returning left items (thank you!)
The house was nice, lots of parking and good garden space. Pool wasn’t open when we stayed. Great lounge space with pool table & table football which kept the kids happy. Nearly every bedroom had a very small en-suite which was perfect for large parties like us. The house could do with a bit of modernising, esp the beds but other than that, it served us well!
We had a week at Riversdale Lodge, highlights were the swimming pool, zip wire & trampoline, we are a family of 12, ages 12 - 65, we all enjoyed it, lots of laughter. We were in the swimming pool everyday and the pool table was also used everyday. Plenty of room in the property for everyone, the ensuites were invaluable. We cooked all meals at the property, from a bbq to a roast dinner, well equipped kitchen & plenty of room in the dining room. We did some lovely walks along the river, went on the hand pulled ferry, which was good fun. Canoeing nearby. Plenty of room outside to sit. Chrystel was great, she was prompt with all communication and very thorough & informative, I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here
We got a little lost in Symonds Yatt but found the property. Younger members of the party brought boats and wet-suits to mess about on the river. The wide age range of our party, 2 - 93, meant we had problems with some people being to hot and others too cold, Crystel did her best to adjust the heating to suit everyone. Being by the river had the disadvantage of high humidity in the house despite the number of dehumidifiers. Plenty of different things to do within easy driving distance, most popular was the Butterfly Zoo.
We had an amazing week at Riversdale Lodge. The house is absolutely beautiful and very well equipped. Ideal for a large group. Lots to do just at the house - pool table, table football, games, DVDs, zip wire, trampoline etc. All ages loved it - humans and doggy! Great parking. Perfect location. Lots to do within 10 miles. Brilliant, responsive communication from the owners. Seamless process. Thank you 😊
What a fabulous property in a stunning location. Just perfect for a much needed get away. Great for walking, biking, and relaxing. Lovely en suite bedrooms, great communal spaces, a lovely garden (which our dog is really going to miss!!) we would definitely love to book again. Hopefully for longer next time.
Chrystel was great with communication from booking until check out and was so kind letting us amend our booking due to family circumstances.
A truly magical place!!
A beautiful secluded house for a family holiday in a stunning location overlooking the river Wye and Yat Rock on the opposite shore. We were welcomed upon arrival by the owner who provided information and answered any questions we had. The kitchen was very well equipped for the 12 of us self catering. The bedrooms were all very comfy and the added bonus of having en-suites made it much easier to get out in the mornings. We had many lovely walks along the river and Monmouth is only 12 minutes drive for any shopping required. There was ample parking for the 5 cars.
Stayed with family to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. It was just what we wanted and more! Warm, cosy with plenty of space for everyone. Grounds and location was stunning. Wonderful inviting lounge area and spacious kitchen and dinning area. Bedrooms were comfortable with en-suite facilities ensured privacy. Great communication from owner Chrystel who gave us lots of information about the surrounding area and how to locate the property. There was even a little welcome gift for us.Because our visit was in December we had the bonus of the house being decorated for Christmas. Will definitely return. Thank you Chrystel
The house was lovely, beautifully furnished and well equipped, with lots of space. We really enjoyed the swimming pool and gardens, with the amazing views of the river and valley.
