The Speech House Hotel
8/10 Good
"We went to the speech house hotel in September 26. We had good weather which helped as we took our dog. The room was small and compact and no where to sit other than on the bed. The hotel itself looked very nice and as we had a dog we had to eat in the orangery which I'm thankful for as the other room to eat in looked very dated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was a bit limited especially if you were on a longer stay. I think the hotel would struggle to accommodate all the guests in the winter especially if it was raining as there doesn't seem to be enough rooms inside the hotel. Our stay was pleasant as we did a lot of walking so didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel other than meal times. I think the 15 pounds a day charge for a dog is a bit excessive as as we were only provided with a towel and dog bowl and most owners bring there own bedding for their dogs. We didn't think they even did the floor as there were still bits on it when coming back from a day out. Would l go there again probably if they charged a proper rate for a dog as if you went for a week it would cost you 105 pounds excessive in the least."

"Lovely property, spotlessly clean and had everything you need. The hosts Teresa and Andy were very helpful and friendly. The provision of tea, coffee and sugar plus soap and shampoo was really above anything we have had provided on previous holidays. Plus the generous welcome gifts were so thoughtful, even a packet of dog treats! Really kind."

"Couldn’t recommended the hut on the hill enough, Mandy supplies you with everything you could possibly need. We throughly enjoyed our couple nights away & star gazing from the hot tub of an evening was beautiful."

"A beautiful cottage in an ideal location. Perfect for getting into the forest, either to the cycle path or the walking trails. Also perfect for staying in and relaxing - one of our days was during a heat wave and the cottage stayed cool and comfortable. Marianne was quick to respond to any queries, not that we had much to ask as everything was available to us that we needed for the week. I'm hoping we can stay again soon!"

"A beautiful house, and perfect for us with our dogs! They had a secured garden area and the luxury of an orchard to run round in too. Excellent location, we were minutes away from the forest for walks and biking and again a short drive from the river to use our paddleboards. Would highly recommend this place, owner was fantastic, house was clean practical and spacious and it was nice and rural for quiet evenings."
