Charming place right in the middle of town. Very quiet at night. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. Bed comfy with quality linen. Staff lovely and very helpful. Great breakfast downstairs in the cafe below.

We loved our accommodation. It had everything we needed and more.
Annie was a great host and has gone above and beyond with all that is included in the apartment. The attention to detail was fantastic. Will definitely recommend.

Very clean and comfortable accommodation 3 minutes drive from Strahan village. Mark was a great host and we were very appreciative of his hospitality. We only stayed overnight however would be very comfortable here for a longer stay. It has all the amenities a family would need. Would definitely recommend the Bungalows to family and friends.

Overall an excellent place to base yourself to explore the west coast region! The unit was very clean, modern, appeared new or recently refurbished and included all the elements to make for a stress free stay!!! It's a brief drive or 10 minute walk into central Strahan and local shops. I would definitely stay here again and happily recommend to others!

Loved this property. Hosts were very welcoming. Our 2 bedroom unit had so much room. Everything you needed was supplied. The room was clean and the outdoor balcony was a welcome bonus for a drink at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend.

A return stay on a business trip at one of my favourite accommodation venues. Unique re-modelled large house with very comfortable, clean and well-equipped rooms, set in extensive grounds. Extremely friendly, efficient and helpful reception staff provided very good advice on local dining options and went out of their way to make bookings for me. Warm and comfortable sitting rooms and a beautiful breakfast room overlooking the gardens.

We were expecting a nice apartment - but this exceeded our expectations! Our breath was taken away the second we opened the door to the most spectacular views. The view was amazing and no photos can give it justice. You could see mountains in the distance over the water. There was a spa on the top level you could sit in and watch the sunset each night. We were planning on using the apartment as a base to explore cradle mountain national park - but ended up staying there to whole time and...

Which area of Southwest is best to stay in for beaches?
For beach lovers in Southwest Tasmania, the best area to stay is along the coast near Ocean Beach and Macquarie Harbour.
This region offers direct access to Tasmania's longest beach, Ocean Beach, which stretches for over 40 kilometres. It's known for its wild, windswept beauty and the dramatic swells of the Southern Ocean. The area around Strahan, situated on Macquarie Harbour, provides a more sheltered base while still being very close to the coast. You'll find a few guesthouses and hotels here, often with views over the harbour.
Couples seeking a romantic getaway will appreciate the secluded feel and dramatic scenery. You can spend your days walking along the vast expanse of Ocean Beach, watching the waves, or exploring the calmer waters of Macquarie Harbour by boat. The quiet nature of the area allows for peaceful evenings and stunning sunsets over the water.
For families, staying near Strahan offers a good balance. While Ocean Beach is fantastic for walks and experiencing the raw power of the ocean, the calmer waters of Macquarie Harbour are better suited for water activities like kayaking or fishing with children.
What is the best time of year to stay in a beach hotel in Southwest?
The most popular time to stay in a beach hotel in Southwest Tasmania is during the summer months of December to February. This period offers the warmest weather, with average temperatures ranging from 17°C to 23°C, which is ideal for enjoying the region's stunning beaches and coastal activities.
During these months, the long daylight hours and pleasant conditions are great for swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the pristine coastline. It's a fantastic time for families to make the most of the outdoor environment, with opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, and enjoying beachside picnics. Many coastal towns will have a lively option, and beachside amenities are in full swing.
For those seeking a slightly different experience, March presents a wonderful alternative. The weather remains pleasantly warm, typically between 15°C and 20°C, and the ocean is still comfortable for swimming.
Can I cancel my beach hotel reservation on Expedia?
Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline. This is often within 24-48 hours of your scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use Expedia's "Fully refundable property" filter during your search to find the right beach hotel in Southwest for you.
How can I save on a beach hotel in Southwest with Expedia?
One Key™ —Expedia’s free travel rewards program—gives you instant access to perks and Member Prices on Southwest beach hotels. Plus, you’ll earn OneKeyCash™* on eligible bookings to use on future trips. Typically, booking in advance will help you save on your hotel booking. But, if you're feeling spontaneous, check out the last-minute deals.
