There is also a 100-year-old stationery store close by, which we really enjoyed. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and it was very neat to be able to show our kids a more traditional, old-style Japanese house. We were disappointed that there was no tatami, however, as it appears there has been a recent renovation, and more disappointed that the rules asked guests not...

Mr. Yoneda reached out to me several days in advance of our arrival with check-in information along with photos to show clear directions from the train station to the house. He greeted us when we showed up, explained all that we needed to know about the house and ensured that all of our questions were answered. The accommodations in the home had what we were looking for in Kyoto: a traditional Japanese-style townhouse...
