Understaffed. Those available were friendly but seemed to be over pressured, the reception desk was unmanned every time we needed to go to it. Dinner in the restaurant was very expensive, so at breakfast we were disappointed that the food was terrible. We actually leave meals unfinished it was so bad.

The staff were friendly and professional even under pressure such as Easter Sunday morning when they were short staffed at breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean and serviced well everyday that we were there. We also noticed that the staff seemed to get on with each other, indicating that it's a positive work environment. The property itself, however, requires a complete overhaul of almost every physical aspect. Carpets were frayed and well used (one has clearly its original colour), paint was cracked, fittings and fixtures were old and worn and the property overall had a very strong feeling of neglect and underinvestment by its owners. This is very evident in the swimming pool area which is so small it's barely usable if there are more than three people and the sauna and steam rooms which seemed hastily assembled. Additionally, the breakfast buffet was simply ok, perhaps slightly below what you would get at a Premier Inn. Overall, it has good staff but needs substantial investment and planning to be anything approaching a four star hotel.

Wonderful hotel in every way.
Excellent two days for our wedding anniversary. Very comfortable room, brilliant breakfast, service was impeccable, pool was really good. No complaints whatsoever. Will definitely stay here again.

The bathroom was tired with a lot of discolouration around shower and bath tiles. Wardrobe doors wouldn’t slide. Dinner was good but breakfast took a while for buffet to be refilled

Mediocre stay
Rooms were dated and not well maintained. Cobwebs on room ceiling, dodgy toilet taps and door. Pool was nice although will benefit having a hot tub and being less crowded. Breakfast was disappointing and sparce. No coffee machine or anything like that, just basic catering coffee station. Overall a disappointing stay for a 4 star hotel.

Avoid for anything longer than a night.
Room was nice but the “king bed” was two single mattresses pushed together leaving a gap in the centre to fall into. Score would have been higher if there were affordable food options but Instead I got a full Dominoes take-out for the same price as a tuna sandwich from the bar. Rude staff upon checking out and a maze like car park.

Made up for single occupancy instead of double.
Having stayed here before, we paid extra for an upgrade and our double room was just what we had expected, Warm, clean and comfortable. However, there had obviously been a fall down in communication between the front desk and housekeeping. The room had been prepared for single occupancy. One of everything, instead of two. This even extended to one mug which we didn't notice until making our hot drink to have in bed in the morning by which time it was too late to rectify. On checking out I pointed this out to the man at reception but he was not that concerned indicating that we might not have looked in the right place for the second mug, towels, dressing gown, slippers etc.

Wonderful stay
Arrived to the most beautiful reception with Christmas decorations and twinkly lights. Receptionist was absolutely wonderful and so kind (didn’t catch his name). Room was large and bed was unbelievably comfortable with pillows to match. Had breakfast on check out morning and were not shown to our table so there was a bit of confusion resulting in us not receiving our pot of tea requested, but the food was delicious and dining room was beautiful. We have stayed previously and we will absolutely be back, perfect for travelling to the zoo or into Winchester and Southampton.

Found the hotel good and the staff very friendly and helpful. Sadly my stay was ruined by very rowdy people in the room next door at 2am! They disturbed several rooms but as I was next door I got the worst of it. Could not raise any staff so at 3 am banged on their door and sfked them to be quiet! A friend treated me to breakfast which was very disappointing. For the cost of £24 I do not expect to do it myself and have food pre cooked and kept warm
