The service was wonderful. Cozy and lovely facility. They had kayak rentals which was the highlight of my trip! Also the staff (Trine) and her father went out of their way to help us when my son experienced a medical emergency. All the necessary calls were made to schedule a dr visit and we were even driven to and from the medical facility. We will never forget their kindness.

The Leikanger Fjord Hotel is a dated property which seems to primarily cater to tour groups. While they have attempted to update portions of the hotel, some areas are obviously worn. For instance, in our room the bathroom was recently remodeled, but the sleeping area looked like circa 1970s, complete with a wall-mounted but non-functional radio! There are virtually NO other eating options in Leikanger other than the hotel, which served a mediocre typical Norwegian buffet. Adequate and reasonable for the cost, but certainly not worth repeating. If you don’t have a car, there is virtually nothing to do in Leikanger or its vicinity. While bus traffic going east is fairly frequent, return trips westward are few and far between, making careful logistical planning paramount. Busses are luxurious and remarkably inexpensive - from Leikanger to Balestrand including a ferry ride was only NEK 80 for the 1.5 hour trip! Renting a car and driving the virtually one lane roads on the shore of the Sognefjord is not recommended for the faint of heart, sharing the road with said busses, trucks, farm vehicles, etc. requires pulling over in turnouts when the road narrows at critical curves. In short, DO NOT stay in Leikanger unless you are fully cognizant of your transportation and dining options. Sogndal (a larger community to the east) or Balestrand to the west are better options.

Great view over the fjord
We had an amazing room with the best view over the fjord. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was ok, not too much to choose about. Good location on our way from Bergen to Lom.

Pleasantly surprised
Cozy old-fashioned hotel with beach access. We stayed in the “cabin” part of the hotel, where the rooms weren’t fancy, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Outside there’s a nice seating area with beautiful views of the fjord. The restaurant also served great food!

Vi har hatt et fantastisk flott opphold. Ble møtt med smil og vennlighet da vi sjekket inn. Vi har hele tiden følt oss så velkommen og tatt godt vare på. Maten var nydelig og servitørende blide og hyggelige. Plassen dette hotellet ligger må bare oppleves. Utsikt til fjorden og den nydelige naturen er unik. Annbefales på det sterkeste.

Eravamo un po’ timorosi di questa struttura dopo aver letto le recensioni degli ospiti precedenti. In realtà invece ci siamo trovati benissimo! La nostra camera era spaziosa e ben tenuta, con terrazzino magnifico e vista sul fiordo. Ottima colazione internazionale. Buono e completo anche il buffet della cena (assolutamente no pizza come scritto in alcuni commenti letti e grande varietà di cibo), prezzi nella norma dei prezzi norvegesi. Il tutto corredato dalle particolarità di questa struttura “marinara e vichinga”. Hotel comodo perché sulla strada del nostro itinerario, con facilità di parcheggio. Nel complesso, soggiorno consigliatissimo.

Ligger veldig flott til ved fjorden. Flott hage. Men hotellet og rommet var veldig slitent. Maten var ok, men personalet var særdeles lite oppmerksomme. Jentene i servering var mest opptatt av å snakke med hverandre. Det var en gutt i servering og han gjorde en positiv jobb, oppmerksom. Det hadde heller ikke skadet om jente i resepsjon hadde sagt hei om morgenen. Hun så ikke på oss en gang. PS! Det er kundene dere lever av. Anbefaler «smilekurs». Så enkelt kan hotellet få bedte score.
