Have been here a few times for meals over the years prior to staying for the first time this trip.
It is an established Bangkok institution and a large hotel. The room we stayed in was on the 20th floor with good views over the city and was comfortable and clean. The room itself along with fixtures and furnishings is a bit old and could do with an upgrade.
The service was good but there were a few things which could have been better. We had bananas in the room on arrival which were raw. You would expect a little more imagination and variety with the welcome fruit choice given that we are in Thailand. The tea bags provided was actually good although this was not refilled on our 2nd day.
The location is excellent, being at the top of Silom road and across the road from Lumpini park. The MRT and BTS are a few minutes walk away.
Overall, this was a hotel I had wanted to stay at for a while (mainly for sentimental value) and I was happy with the overall experience. An update of the rooms and a few service improvement areas would help to improve the experience in future.
Nicely located hotel, minutes from Patpong, good restaurants and bars.
Up to expectations. Clean, roomy and nicely decorated rooms. All amenities included.
I stayed only one night but will go there again with great pleasure!
Hugging the Chao Phraya River, Silom, and Sathorn are home to the full gamut of industries. Considered part of the central business district, the area is also home to the city’s most renowned entertainment and red light area, Patpong. Other distractions include the shopping complexes of Robinson, Central, Silom, and Makro. Expect constant traffic congestion.
