Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to San Fermín?
The best time to go to San Fermín is during the festival itself, which runs annually from 6th to 14th July, offering a unique cultural experience.

The festival's opening ceremony, known as the "Chupinazo," takes place on 6th July at midday in Plaza Consistorial, marking the official start of the festivities. This is a very popular event, with the square filling rapidly, so arriving early is essential if you want to be in the heart of the action.

For those interested in the famous "Encierro" (Running of the Bulls), this iconic event occurs every morning from 7th to 14th July at 8 AM. The run lasts only a few minutes, starting from the Santo Domingo corrals and finishing in the bullring. Many visitors choose to watch from a balcony along the route or from the stands in the bullring, which can be booked in advance.

Couples looking for a more relaxed experience of the festival might prefer the evenings. The "Pobre de mí" closing ceremony on 14th July, where people gather with candles and sing a farewell song in Plaza Consistorial, offers a poignant and memorable way to end the celebrations.
