"The staff were so friendly and keen to make everything perfect. The room was great. The food was excellent. I had really great dinners and breakfast was delicious start to day. The locals clearly loved the Royal Oak which was another good sign! Such a great stay and only good things to say about it!"
"A lovely old country house with delightful and spacious gardens. Breakfasts were superb and the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The host and his staff were at all times friendly and attentive. We'd happily stay again."
"The Breakfast was included and was really excellent (good choices, fresh good quality ingredients, well presented etc.), and the free off-road parking at the rear was convenient.
We stayed in the cottage which is nicely presented, and good value. The only minor issues were the tv remote didn’t work (probably just batteries), the bathroom is a bit tired (toilet hard to flush, mold around the bath), but the shower and overall facilities were good enough.
Overall, a comfortable good value stay."

"We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Views are amazing and for anyone who loves scenery and nature this is a lovely place to stay. "
"Nice clean room but a bit on the small side, excellent shower. Noisy in the evening untill closing time in the pub downstairs but then lovely and quiet. We didn't eat here in the evening as we were meeting people in Pickering but the food certainly looked good! Breakfast next morning was excellent with a great choice of continental style and the various cooked options. Parking in the car park is very limited but there is easy street parking at the front. It's a very quiet area so I had no worries about that. Thoroughly recommended!"
The Cottage Gillamoor York, with wood burner, wifi and good local pub
10/10 Excellent
"Good location in typically small cottage. Close to many things and 45 mins from everywhere else. Good host and well appointed accommodation with a nice little garden for children to play in. Pub 50 yards away. "

"We have stayed at Byre Cottage before and it was lovely. We needed somewhere to stay to get to a local country fair and this property agent was the first we thought about."
"The property itself is lovely. Unfortunately the heating broke while we were there meaning the temperature inside the cottage dropped to 10 degrees. Despite best efforts to get someone to sort this out, and a promise of someone coming out to address the issue with the boiler, nobody arrived. Consequently the trip was very disappointing and the support from the holiday company less than satisfactory. Apparently they are still waiting to hear back from the owner but I don't hold out much hope of anything being forthcoming. Hopefully nobody else suffers the same experience."
