The Retreat is a perfectly located, luxury self-catering one bedroom suite that has recently received a complete striking interior renovation to a 5-star standard. The village offers a number of modern amenities making it a great location for a relaxing staycation.

The Space:
Step into The Retreat, a beautifully renovated one-bedroom suite designed for comfort, privacy, and style. Situated on the ground floor, this peaceful hideaway opens through a sleek, black-stained front door into a calm, welcoming interior finished to a five-star standard.

The contemporary kitchen is a true highlight. Designed for both convenience and creativity, it features Siemens appliances including an oven, microwave, warming drawer, large fridge-freezer, and slimline dishwasher. A floating island with a Teppanyaki grill and indoor BBQ allows you to prepare anything from light breakfasts to romantic dinners for two.

The living area invites you to unwind with a double-sided media wall that includes a 65-inch Samsung Smart TV and a Sonos sound bar. A large, designer wool sofa, dressed with soft cushions and faux fur throws, is perfect for curling up with a book, streaming your favourite series, or enjoying a classic board game. When the weather is warm, step outside onto your private patio—an ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee or evening drink while watching the resident ducks, rabbits, and squirrels explore the landscaped grounds.

The master bedroom continues the theme of luxurious calm, offering a super king-size bed with a pocket-sprung mattress, plush duvet, and feather-soft pillows. A second 65-inch Samsung TV provides added entertainment, while plantation shutters filter natural light across a serene and restful space. From the bedroom, you also have direct access to the patio, where you can begin your day with fresh air and countryside views or toast the sunset with a locally distilled rhubarb gin and tonic.

The spa-style bathroom completes the experience, featuring striking grey Porcelanosa tiles, a round stone bath with overhead rainfall shower, and a stone pedestal washbasin. Matte black fixtures, luxury local toiletries, fluffy towels, and soft robes all contribute to a stay that feels effortlessly indulgent.

Stylishly finished and thoughtfully equipped, The Retreat offers a private patio, a double-sided media wall, and all the elements needed for a restorative and memorable escape in the Lake District.

Parking is provided at the onsite car park which is just a short walk away. Electric car charging points and designated spaces available.

We do not accept pets and respectfully request that guests adhere to this rule!

Arrival is from 4 PM with the reception available until 8PM, and departure on the morning of check out is 10 AM

The Neighborhood:
Follow in the footsteps of Wordsworth, take a walk discovering the beautiful fauna and flora the Lake District has to offer, take a relaxing ride on an Ullswater steamer and enjoy a picnic watching the world go by on the side of the lake. Discover the historical locations of Penrith castle or the Cumbria’s stone circles of Castlerigg. The Lake District is a playground for thrill seekers, from gorge walking, abseiling, white water tubing or the calmer kayaking or archery. Enjoy the pool, Jacuzzi or gym after a spending the day exploring the area.

Dine in the onsite restaurant Eden, in a choice of local gastro pubs, or dine alfresco with some locally sourced produce you have picked up from one of the many farm shops in the area.

Getting Around:
The nearest train station to Whitbarrow Village is Penrith North Lakes Railway Station, located approximately 10 miles to the northeast. This station is on the West Coast Main Line and is served by Avanti West Coast, TransPennine Express, and Northern services, offering connections to major cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London.

Another nearby station is Oxenholme Lake District Railway Station, about 25 miles to the southeast, also on the West Coast Main Line. This station provides access to Kendal and other parts of the Lake District. For those exploring the central Lake District, Windermere Railway Station is another option. While farther away, it connects to popular destinations such as Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside.

From Penrith North Lakes Railway Station, the 105/D1 bus route offers services to Greystoke Village, passing through scenic rural locations.

While there is no direct bus route to Whitbarrow Village, taxis or other local transport options are available from the train stations to reach your destination. It's recommended to check bus timetables in advance, as services may operate at limited times, especially on weekends or public holidays.

Other Things to Note:
The suite cannot accommodate pets and is completely pet free!

Bookings can only be accepted from booking holders 18 years or above, the Retreat is not suitable for children. Guests have access to the self-catering private suite with access to the on-site facilities.
