I have stayed at this property several times in the distant past. I initially picked it because I was familiar with it and didn't want to be in Times Square area. The location ended up being about the only thing I liked about my stay this time around.
1. Asked for a room away from elevator and vending (as quiet as I can get in NYC) and got a room outside the door to staff elevators where housekeeping staff talked loudly in hallway and in and out of double swinging doors. We had already hauled all our things upstairs after waiting a bit for elevator (that next!) so we called to try and find out if we could change rooms. After my husband was put on hold three times, and hung up on three times, we gave up. In general, we were not in our room much so it wasn't the worst problem. But the day I wanted to take a quick cat nap, they were so loud for so long (roughly 45 minutes) I finally got up and asked if they might be a bit quieter. I was nice, they were nice, and they became much quieter. Brownie point for them canceled out the negative of desk staff not honoring my room request.
2. There were five elevators serving the 22nd floor we were on. TWO of the elevators were out the morning we arrived and THREE were out later that day. If we forgot something in our room, it could take more than 30 minutes to get to the room and back due to the long, long waits an elevator with space for even one person. Absolutely unacceptable. No apologies, no concessions. More to say, no more room!
