"I can’t enthuse over this hotel enough. Everything about it screams perfection. The staff are wonderful, the history is interesting, the food is delicious and the beer is good. Also it’s a pleasant walk to the city center. Since Everton’s ground is next door we took in a very interesting and informative tour. The Titanic is highly recommended."

"The staff were great but sadly the property has seen better days. Luke warm water in the washand basin & shower.Lift control button on 3rd floor is defective. Blocked toilet but staff dealt with it promptly. Clean sheets on bed and breakfast edible so reasonable value for money paid."

"What a lovely 2 night stay at the Royal Oak. All the staff are so nice, nothing is too much trouble. The room was a good size and comfortable. The pub restaurant is huge so no need to book. We had Sunday lunch, I had the 2 meat roast, beef and turkey which was tender and delicious. We will certainly use this place again when we're in the area. Big thanks to the Royal Oak!"

"So after reading the bad reviews and seeing the bad pictures we weren’t looking forward to arriving. But I can honestly say we were pleasantly surprised, we arrived late due to my partner finishing work late but a quick phone call on our arrival and the hotel manager came down to check us in. He was extremely helpful and gave us all the information we needed and sorted the car parking out :) the room was perfect very clean brand new towels, heating on which made it cozy the bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing!! I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again thank you for a lovely stay!!"

"Firstly, great parking and relatively easy to find. Location was good and it wasn’t too noisy from traffic at night. The rooms were mainly very clean, except My sink was a little dirty on arrival. My request for a water view was met which was appreciated. There is limited storage compared to other hotels, but ok for 1/2 nights. All items in my room were in good condition. The hot breakfast items were typical and tasted as standard really. The condition of the hotel overall I found to be very good. The biggest negative was the bathroom size, it wasn’t a bathroom, it was a plastic cubical with toilet, sink and shower crammed in. As a small, sole occupant I was ok with it, but wouldn’t like to share ! This is hidden on the hotels site. The breakfast on the first day was a little chaotic, not seated or assisted with the process. At first no table was available for me. The restaurant is a bit small for the size of hotel. There isn’t fresh decaf coffee, just the freeze dried sachets, which in this day and age isn’t really acceptable. There is fruit but it’s not presented in a way to have in a bowl or on your cereal/yoghurt. It would be better if they had cut up/peeled fruit as well as whole apples and bananas. "
