Golfview weekend away
Loved waking up in the morning to the kangaroos on the golf course. Lots of rooms and beds for large groups. Enjoyed our stay.

Big house with good views. Bathrooms very clean. Bedrooms comfy. Table tennis and foozball fun. Unfortunately, quite dirty under furniture. Could use a bit of maintenance, eg sink in laundry not able to be used, which was a nuisance as couldn’t soak/rinse clothes/ bathers etc in it. And outside furniture old and cushions very stained and dirty looking. We had a great holiday but a bit overpriced given the overall condition of the place. Host was good, always replied promptly and very helpful.

Better to bring your own linens
This house is in a lovely spot, with beautiful views and a short drive to shops and restaurants. The house has good bones but is in serious need of attention. Walls are scuffed and dirty, windows look like they've never been cleaned and there is a strong smell of mildew throughout but particularly on the lower level. Linens were supplied but sheets were pilled and uncomfortable and the towels were old and thin. The general level of cleanliness throughout was not great, particularly in the midst of a pandemic. There was some broken furniture and deck pailings which were bordering on unsafe. We expected more for the money we paid. On a positive, the size of the house is great for a big group and the golf course views make for excellent kangaroo viewing. This house could be excellent with a bit of love and attention

Thanks for the feedback. We’ve actually just discovered an undetected water leak in the downstairs bathroom which has caused a lot of damage downstairs and which seems to have been the cause of the mildew smell. We’ve now closed the house for bookings while we get this addressed. We’re also taking the opportunity to give the house a full refurbishment, including new carpets, painting, light fittings, benchtops, bathrooms and more. Planning to reopen later this year with a much improved house.

Good holiday but house is a bit tired
Nice and private location, with a bit of an ocean view. Great bird life and a comfortable house. House was not particularly clean, it had rubbish out the front of the house, significantly stained carpet, marks on the plaster, damage to kitchen benches and loose timber decking etc. The bedsheets were clean, we found the firewood downstairs and we had a good stay, but I would have expected it to be cleaner and in better condition. There is lots of kitchen equipment but we couldn't find the remote for the split system downstairs or login to the wifi. Was no dishwasher powder or tablets and about 2 tbs of dishwashing liquid so we had to go and buy our own. Still had a lovely weekend in Lorne, but if you're after something pristine, this isn't it.

Pictures didn't mirror what rental was.
The pictures online were impressive. However on arrival smelt locked up (musty). Was not cleaned with quite grimy wall and fittings. Bathrooms and towels were spotless. Some of guests didn't sleep in beds due to sheets being dirty. Kitchen was grimy and oven burnt our food due to element bent. Rental needs some TLC and some maintenance needed. The Host was a pleasure to deal with and speedy in communication which was nice. Area was lovely otherwise.

Good place but a couple of issues
Lovely location and very spacious for 5 single ladies in Lorne for a bushwalking weekend. The house is a little tired - kitchen benches a bit shabby, downstairs area stuffy when we arrived, and one bedroom did not have window that could be opened. Main problem was we did not have a key to unlock the door onto the deck from the kitchen, so could not make use of this area, However we still had a pleasant stay.

Thank you for leaving a review Lyn. I’m so sorry about the door to the deck being locked - I had no idea. We don’t normally lock this door and in fact don’t even leave the key in the lock, so I’m really not sure how this happened. I will make sure it gets reopened ASAP. As for the bedroom windows, they all use the same lock so any of the window keys should have been able to open them. Again, apologies for this.

Thank you for a great stay.
Just a few cleanliness issues that are an easy fix and would have made our stay a little more comfortable. The outside balcony was not usable due to it being very dirty. Just an oversight i'm sure. The cushions on the couch inside were so dirty. These again are such an easy fix. Thank you for a beautiful home .

Older property needing some upgrading in the future. Still we loved the location and the kitchen lounge area with there views. These 5 couples have celebrated Xmas in July for years and would return here again. We would love to thank our host Brook for our STAY!

Family holiday in Lorne
As a family of 8 with 3 children we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was big enough for us all even when the weather was wet. It is very well situated for good walks, shopping and beautiful drives. The house was well equipped and we enjoyed the open fire in the evening. The TV screens were amazing. We thoroughly recommend it.

A pleasant experience
I was mostly satisfied with the house. When we arrived, the house did smell a little so I lit a fragrant candle which did help. The decks were covered in leaves so I swept them until it was tidy. We loved the deck and used it a lot because the weather was warm and the views were lovely. The deck chairs were stained which was off putting but we improvised with towels to sit on. Once we were settled in, we had a lovely time. I think greater attention to detail upon arrival would improve my overall impression. We saw lots of native wildlife which was wonderful. I would recommend this house and it was a pleasant experience.

Needs a lot of work done to bring this property up to standard
We did not get off to a good start with this property. When we arrived and tried to obtain the keys, they were not there. A few phone calls, which incidentally were to customer support in the USA, got us nothing other than an apology. They, like ourselves, could not get a hold of the owners. We were seconds away from booking a hotel for the night when the owner called, apologised and told us where to find the keys. We were also given a small refund for the inconvenience. Apart from the bad start, we were not overly impressed with the condition of this house given the amount we were paying. We took a number of photos of faults both inside and out and sent these to Home Away but nothing really came off this. The outdoor area needed maintenance and the removal of rubbish such as an old toilet and sink. Indoor had some areas that needed patched up. The cleaners needed to do a better job particularly as the children we had fiound 2 lighters - one down the sofa and one lying outside on the deck. It was great having toys and plates for young children and the numbers of beds and space was great but overall we felt we had been overcharged for what we got and would not recommend this house.

This review is pretty disappointing. It’s true that the guests were unable to access the property when they arrived. We had a replacement cleaner who put the key back in the wrong spot. Unfortunately I was on an international flight so was not immediately contactable. However, as soon as I landed I got the message and rectified the problem. In the end the guests only ended up having to wait less than an hour. We gave a $100 refund for the inconvenience, which we thought was reasonable. The complaints about the state of the house are mostly exaggerated. It’s true that two lighters had been found, but this was simply an oversight by the cleaner (one was out on the deck and the other had fallen between the cushions of the couch). The items outside, such as the sink and toilet, were stowed at the very rear of the house where guests have no reason to go and were there pending being taken to the tip (there is no hard rubbish collection in Lorne). It’s true that we had a few spots requiring minor patching of the plaster, but these were very minor and the repair works have now been completed. The guests also complained about there being too many leaves in the outside areas - this is an unavoidable feature of visiting the Otways. As the saying goes, you can’t please all the people all of the time.

Great location of house and great views. Saw koalas, kangeroos and kookaburras. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house with our family. The communication with the owner of the property was excellent.

8 of us stayed for 3 nights at golfview house was quite big and plenty of space but it is very tired and needs a good clean and some care we had to supply kitchen detergent and dishwasher powder as there was none and toilet paper as there was very little some local brochures in the house would be good too overall we enjoyed our stay but there’s lots of room for improvement
