"It was relaxing. Love the animals. Serene location. Good country surroundings. Lovely and friendly children of the owners and of course owners are lovely too. We even got free dozen of eggs and a bottle of fresh milk. Very affordable accommodation. The list can go on. Just perfect for the family with children. "Presented as a charming country hotel, the Criterion- the Cri, has significant pros & cons. My goal is to provide realistic expectations; if you seek a basic comfortable stay - this is NOT your place. If you want boisterous pub atmosphere, this is your place. Overall; pleasant staff, standard pub fare, awful overnight experiences. Management’s priority is the pub patrons - we applaud them for taking this responsibility seriously. However, we chose this location for its represented charm & proximity to the Warwick Train Station for our steam train trip between Warwick & Stanthorpe. As frequent road trippers, we’ve stayed in many small town pub hotels in NSW, QLD, & VIC. We understand & typically enjoy our stays & their unique histories. That noted, it’s evident that the Cri’s pub is where they invest time/money, not lodging. Only basic rooms were available & here’s my honest assessment: guestrooms/halls have peeling wall paint/paper (our room had a hole punched in the wall); roof has many leaks & carpets sorely need replacing; sink had no hot water & barely a trickle of cold; no heat source but extra blankets available; sheets clean & beds reasonably comfortable if you can sleep through the noise. The rear courtyard was ridiculously loud. I used Loop earplugs & they didn’t help. Patrons are either unaware or don’t care that there are guests sleeping. Courtyard cleanup begins promptly at 0700 with a leaf blower. Manager was responsive when made aware but we won’t stay again."

"Great location as you can walk to the town centre quickly. Staff were nice .Rooms were cleaned well except the pillows. I have only a few things I dislike, remember we tend to comment on the things we dislike. The room had an ant problem, bed pillows smelt of body odour and absolutely rubbish lighting in entire room. Putting on makeup was hard as no natural or proper bathroom lights. Oh wait , I could hear all the noise very clear from the pub as we were positioned next to it but fortunately noise stopped as I assume closing time. Conversations outside were heard clearly. If you’re a bloke in particular or overnight stay or budget conscious… this would be good for you. But overall , I was happy accomadation"

'Avalon' - Small group or family getaway

10/10 Excellent

"The place we stayed in at Thulimbah, was ideally located about 10 min from Stanthorpe and 30min from Warick. It was very clean , had 3 Brms all with BIRs an open area lounge dining and kitchen. The house is fully equipped with all the amenities to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils that anyone could need and it was easy to navigate around. There was a combustion fire for those cold nights and that certainly warmed up the interior quickly and it was very comfortable inside. There was a small book library and also a small dvd library.The property was fenced so our Jack Russell had plenty of space to do zoomies around the back yard. Teresa the property manager was very good and there was a cheese platter awaiting us on arrival. We certainly enjoyed our short stay and we would certainly go again for longer. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and stay there."
