Great location, very tired unit
Alii Cove is a nice condo complex with a nice pool and is in a terrific location as it is within walking distance to Kona town. The unit, while close enough to Honl's beach to hear the surf break and watch the surfers, is very, very tired. We were the first renters after the islands opened up following the initial Covid lockdown. The property manager did a great job having carpets cleaned and unit prepped before our arrival, and was very responsive to a few requests we had. However, it quickly became clear that this was a unit that has been heavily rented for years and it is very, very tired. The beds were comfortable, thank heavens. The living room furniture was extremely uncomfortable due to sagging. We had plywood put under the cushions and had to turn the cushions upside down and backwards just to try and get some support - I even brought in a beach chair to sit in rather than the couches. The loft area has one newer couch/pull out bed but it is otherwise completely barren. Shag carpets in a tropical climate I would also not recommend for obvious reasons - and was full of cleaning spots. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes but utensils and other cookware were also very tired - I visited the Goodwill store for some items. Master bathroom needs to be overhauled. And that is the roof of the pumping station you see off the lanai - occasional wafts of unpleasant odors, so heads up.
Homey this unit was not. However, Kona is fabulous and we learned that we would like to return to Alii Cove but definitely not in this unit.
