Nice location and value for money .

This is the fourth or fifth time I’ve stayed at the Ailen Garden or Ailen Garden II, always through Expedia. Every time I stay there they adjust my room type. Sometimes it doesn’t inconvenience me. This time I ordered a triple twin, because it was my birthday, and I expected friends. They downgraded me to one double bed and put me on the 6th floor without an elevator. As I was going out I complained and said they needed to quit doing that, and that they needed to refund the difference in price. They said oh let’s move to the other hotel, we have a room like that there. I said no. I’m going out, and I wasn’t climbing their stairs to move my stuff. I wanted my money refunded back to the price of the room they gave me. On checkout the manager argued with me for a half an hour and finally agreed to refund the five bucks, but they haven’t yet done it. They always say, “Why you don’t call us, you stayed with us before?” However I like using Expedia and my USA credit card when I travel in Vietnam. Besides that their towels stink. I won’t stay there again.

Great hotel
Hotel is conveniently located, it's easy to walk to most places in the city and there's loads of restaurants and bars around. Staff there were incredibly friendly and made you feel welcome immediately. The room was basic but there's nothing to complain about. All in all very good hotel at a reasonable price.

Not bad for a 2 star
We didn't expect much because it was a 2 star but we were on the top floor and it was so hot! We had A/C but it took a really long time to cool down the room every time. After the first day my wife actually wanted to leave and get another hotel. We stuck it out one more night and ended up checking out a 1 night early. The staff was very friendly and helpful though.

hotel was easy to find. check in was quick. room was spacious and clean. vicinity has nice food stalls, cafes, convenience shops and pubs. u can book tour trips easily at the hotel. cinema available 15 mins down the road.

What you see isn’t what you get, not recommend
Booked this hotel and got reallocated to the rooms above the hotel which is under a different name and 2 star and no way close to the advertised pictures. Not clean and would not recommend.

Fantastic hotel
We stayed here for 5 nights, and couldn’t really fault it! It seems to be a family run hotel, and everyone we encountered were very friendly and helpful. What also helps is they appear to double up as a travel service so we ended up booking 2 separate tours (Co Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta), both of which were superb. Both tours someone met you at the hotel which was even better. The room was clean and looked fairly new. Came with a fridge and a safe for keeping valuables in. Did notice some rubbish underneath the bed, which was the only downside to the room. There is no lift, so be prepared for a good workout if you’re on the top floor! Location was fantastic, just a 2 min walk from the main bars and restaurants. But be warned, this was hard to find!! Do not use google maps as it will tell you it’s 100 yards down the road. Best way to find it is to locate the Burger King, turn left out of it and there is a darkish alley where you’ll find the hotel. All in all, a great stay in a great location.

If you want to be in the thick of pubs and clubs then this is the perfect location . Staff friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast wasn’t provided and there is no smoking.

Great Hotel in quiet, but ideal location
The hotel is down a side street, just off the main drag and only 100m away from Bui Vien (Walking Street). Staff are very friendly and helpful. We arrived early morning, hoping to be able to leave our bags until our room was ready, but they gave us a room straight away. The room was compact, as most Ho Chi Minh rooms are, but clean, with a nice pwerful shower and strong wifi signal. Everything was clean and housekeeping was reliable and efficient. This would be the first palce I'd look at, when visiting Ho Chi Minh City again.

Great stay & centrally located
Well located in the main backpacker district. As it is on a smaller side road, the noise from the road wasn't an issue. Friendly staff who were helpful and also not pushy about tours. Rooms were decent size and clean.

Great Hotel!
Great stay at this hotel! The local area was exactly where we wanted to stay, and this hotel is just enough steps away to keep out of the noisiness! The service was great, and the staff is wonderful! We ended up staying an extra 4 nights! Comfortable rooms and clean amenities. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

Good hotel for back packers, coz they don't have lift. You have to carry your heavysuits case up to 5th floor. Stuffs are friendly and kind. But sometimes they are not reliable, so you have to recomfirm whatever you ask for them. Anyway I like this hotel.

A big yes if you like a happening ambience
Simple, clean and decent hotel. Host is kind and very helpful, she offered us tour to mekong delta which was good too. We stayed two nights, the street a small but connecting main road and is just next to the walking street which turns to the most happening place in the evening and is open till late night. There are a loads of local places to eat, shop and party specially intended for foreigners. Loads to eat and explore if you are a seafood and party lover. We pretty much enjoyed our stay because of its location.

Unpleasant stay. Hotel check in and out were very rude. Lobby was dirty and cluttered complete with one very questionable character we highly suspected was on drugs. Room was ok. Water was leaking in our bathroom so the floor was always wet. On the positive side they had plenty of hot water and were willing to store our luggage for an extra day

This hotel is conveniently located in the middle of the Backpackers area. It's close enough to the main partying street (Bui Vien) that you can walk there within 2 minutes yet far away enough that you won't get the noise levels. The staffs are friendly and accommodating. It seems to be a family-owned and operated hotel so I much rather give them my business than the big brands. However, there are a few things that might be cause for concern for others. None were issues for me but you should be aware of them nonetheless. 1) This hotel has 5 floors with 2 rooms on each. But there's NO elevator. If stairs are your enemy, then you should probably look elsewhere. 2) The rooms with double beds are kinda small. Think Japan-sized rooms. Good enough to sleep and relax in. But don't expect to be hosting any friends. 3) After 3am, the front door of the hotel is locked. If you stay out later than that, you can still get in but you'll have to wake up the guy sleeping in the lobby. I did this a few times and felt kinda bad for the guy. =) But based on the price and the location, I'm willing to overlook the small issues listed above. I try to support small-business owners are much as I can and since they were so nice, I would recommend them even more. Next time I'm in VN, I would stay here again.

There was a lot of damp in the room which was evident from the smell and mould on the walls in the bedroom and bathroom. The air in the room was so damp that it made it hard to sleep. There was a cigarette burn in the bed sheet which wasn't very nice. Breakfast was ok.

Very loud and strange staff
I would say this establishment is more of a hostel than hotel. Location was very loud. The street is filled with hotels so lots of rowdy foreigners. You will hear them cheering for their pub crawls throughout the night. Staff was always questioning where we were going (very strange). After checking-in, we asked how much the bottles of water cost. The worker said drink and find out. Very shady... They asked us to pay during check-out even though I had already pre-paid through Expedia. Thankfully I had a friend with me who spoke Vietnamese and was able to sort it out for me.

We got a bigger room than we originally booked, so that was nice. The staff was shady though. They wanted to keep our passports overnight and when we asked the worker how much the bottled water in the room cost, he said drink and find out. Super shady in my opinion. The shower pressure was good but there were tiny bugs in the bathroom. We were thankful there was air conditioning and television in the room.

Hosts very very helpfull
Trustworthy hotel. I found managers honest and fair in my dealings with them over a week. Good rates for money exchange and taxis. Take a load off your mind when you know your not going to be shafted. :)

Staff were great on quiet lane in backpacker area
We had a great stay at this budget hotel along a little strip of hotels down a lane off Pham Ngu Lao. We had a big clean room with three beds and a mini-fridge. A staircase leads up to all the rooms so keep in mind if you have mobility issues. Although the nearby streets are busy the lane was very peaceful apart from one raucous group that walked through on a pub crawl one night. Tasty simple breakfast is included and the staff were really helpful including arranging a cheap airport pickup for me in Hanoi. The park across Pham Ngu Lao was a nice place to check out street life and had a nice underground food court and mini-mart.

Satisfied staying in Ailen Garden Hotel
This was my second stay in Ailen Garden Hotel. The rate of this hotel is above 4.0 and there always has a reason. Looking outside is a narrow and kinda oldy hotel. But inside and its facilities are new and everything is clean. Location is right next to Bui Vien Street but I could not feel any noisy during sleep. I will definitely stay here again my next trip to Saigon.
