"There was no lift and although staff helped me with my case,I still had to climb up and down to the 2nd floor. I had asked for a lower room because I have severe heart failure, despite having booked in January, there were many people, far fitter than me on the 1st floor. My room was clean but the curtain was not hanging properly. Many of the carpets need a clean, so did the big window on the stairs which was filthy with cobwebs, The garden needed tidying up, there were cigarette butts everywhere. The parking was perfect. Most of the staff were very helpful."

"The good breakfast was stop on. Good quality and well cooked. Very friendly staff. The hotel needs a good clean and refresh - everything was a bit dirty. This was a real shame because this place has so much potential. Charge a bit more and get the standards up. Parking is not a problem - very cheap pay for parking a two minute walk await. Good selection or draft in bar. Some nice restaurants within walking distance."

"What a beautiful property to stay in. The room we stayed in was clean, well furnished and had all the extras you needed. Because the hotel is set back from the road there is no noise therefore we had a great night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and finally we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast!"

"Lovely building and rooms. Great breakfast. Perfect location for exploring Wiltshire and Cotswolds. Plenty of parking space. We have stayed several times and always been impressed."

"Only issue was no blackout curtain so light from courtyard disturbed sleep. However mentioned to staff and they said sorry and would feed back to managers "

"Bedding was clean, room was clearly old - flaking paper, damp marks, wonky fittings, including the base of a kettle stuck to a table with the plug cut off. Hotel has no lifts, I believe it is a listed building and therefore hard for them to install. Staircases are not well kept, lumpy, overhanging steps in places, dips in others. Hotel has an extraordinary number of stair cases, to get to my room I had to traverse more than 6, some up, some down. I had previously requested a room with as few stairs as possible to get to as I travel with heavy work equipment. I was supplied with 2 small sachets of coffee for a 2 night stay. The TV worked, I was able to open the window. There was a broken fan on the floor of the wardrobe. It felt safe, the town is very pretty, staff were friendly."

"The location was great, with friendly, helpful staff and rooms had everything needed albeit a bit basic and plug sockets seemed a bit scarce. Breakfast was in a lovely area and really good - nice touch bringing fresh eggs of your choice. I would suggest bringing toast too so they don’t go cold when waiting for toaster! Would recommend as a great base for short trip."

"Down stairs was pk, staff were really good. But the rooms are very very run down, threadbare carpets and curtains, awful pillows, just very poor and definately not value for money."
