Britannia Hotel Edinburgh

Britannia Hotel Edinburgh

8/10 Good
"For the price it was good value, room with a window was spacious and clean, albeit slightly tired looking, but location and price for 2 nights in Edinburgh we had no complaints, receptionist were very friendly and allowed us to check in early which was well received. Breakfast was included in our price and great quality choice of breakfast to cater for our needs, nice hot food and delicious porridge, self serve. Tea coffee and juice with choice of pastries, all self serve. No housekeeping for the 2 night stay which again wasn't a problem as only 2 night stay, if required more milk, coffee or tea you could help yourself by reception to refill your room. Bed was smaller than expected but comfortable and pillows were nice. Great location for main area we had to get a taxi into princes street only because quite steep hill that due to being less mobile atm would find the climb a struggle, being mobile wouldn't be a problem for the average person. So wouldn't recommend for less mobile or wheelchair users unless you have a car. Great price great food for a city break."

Garner Edinburgh Haymarket by IHG

Garner Edinburgh Haymarket by IHG

8/10 Good
"Right across from a National Rail station, and the Edinburgh Tram and busses as well, which makes a huge difference for anyone visiting Edinburgh car-free. The 24 hour lobby lounge is a great place to decompress after a busy day out. The breakfast buffet at the pub next door has a full Scottish breakfast (which is like a Full English breakfast, but don’t say that out loud). The hotel was under some minor renovations when I was there, but the room was spacious, with plenty of power plugs (not always a thing in UK hotels) and remarkably quiet at night. The neighbourhood felt safe, clean-enough (for a busy old city full of tourists) and full of options for dining and shopping for daily essentials."

"The first night of our stay was absolutely miserable. When we complained about our horrible room staff immediately turned on us. We spoke with the night manager the next morning and he was the only staff truly sincere about helping us while the other staff continued to be rude. We truly thank him for relaying the problems to the correct people and resolving the situation."
