Lovely hotel, great staff
Stayed 4 nights to attend a trade show at Messe with 4 colleagues. Hotel staff lovely, breakfast really good, service good also. Location not ideal for visiting local restaurants without having to use a taxi - walking distance would have been great, otherwise will stay here again next year.

Didn't like smell cigarette everywhere.
I stayed only for 3 nights staff are nice and helpful. Didn't like as smell cigarette everywhere even my room was no smoking room still could feel in my room. Other things good.

Rooms at the front of hotel very noisy due to main road adjacent. Quieter rooms at the rear are charged extra!

Essen hotel
The price charged was not reflected in the standard of hotel. One member of staff was particularly rude and argued with us on checking out.

Nice, quiet hotel despite being on a major street.
Great location, staff and cleanliness but the price is a bit steep if you add parking and breakfast. I would consider Holiday Inn next time around.

The staff is exemplary. Truly kind and caring. They went above and beyond to be helpful in so many ways. The food was delicious at breakfast, the on site restaurant was extremely good. There is local transport very closeby as well as a whole area of really great restaurants within walking distance.

No A/C in rooms!
I had one selection criteria when looking for a hotel in Essen: A hotel with air conditioning in the rooms. Expedia's search features appeared to allow me to filter for a hotel that had that - hooray! Unfortunately, when I arrived at the hotel I was appalled to discover that the air conditioning was only in the hotel common areas and not in the rooms. Given that this was the one feature I really cared about above else, I feel more than a little cheated by my stay. All that being said, the rooms were reasonably clean and well enough looked after. Please just correct the glaring inaccuracy in the description of this hotel's amenities.

Reasonable hotel for Messe Essen
I chose this hotel as being within walking distance of Messe Essen, and at about 15 minutes walk it met my needs well. It's right opposite the swimming pool too, evidenced by a large number of swimming competitors during my stay. The full house did mean I had a smoking room, but it was clean enough and the staff made the effort to refresh it.

Good but no cigar
Good hotel and recommend to stay there. Excellent breakfast selection although limited evening menu. Nothing in neighbourhood around it. During my stay I was unable to eat at the restaurant as they had a large booking but was given no warning about this, and had to rearrange a business meeting at another location at very short notice.

Very nice hotel. A few niggles such as limited menu on months rotation, some slight noise during night from fridge didn't help sleep. But very friendly staff especially during breakfast.

Hotel in buurt van Gruga Essen
Het vroegere « Ypsilon » recent overgenomen door Dorint. Vlotte incheckprocedure. Eenpersoonskamer is voldoende ruim. Gratis flesje water op de kamer. Hotel gelegen op wandelafstand van de hippe wijk Rüttenscheid en van de Gruga. Zeer fait tarief voor één nacht. Parkeergarage voorhanden.

Dorint Hotel mit kleinen Schwächen
Hotel macht einen guten Eindruck. Leider immer noch Teppichboden in jedem Zimmer. Finde ich persönlich nicht hygienisch. Jedes Zimmer war zu warm. Auch bei geöffneten Fenster kaum Besserung. Zimmerreinigung nur auf Anfrage. Minibar vorhanden aber nicht gefüllt. Brauche ich aber auch nicht. Restaurant und Bar geschlossen. Frühstück war gut. Da sollte für jeden was dabei sein. Für Kurzaufenthalt absulut OK.
