"The front desk staff is not very friendly at this hotel. We had a leak in our sink the first night of check-in and they did not even offer to change our room. I had to request the change and they did not even apologize for the inconvenience. The hotel needs a make over, everything felt old and dirtly."

"Staff was abrupt and inpatient at times. It was a very busy day for the hotel. This site states rollaway beds are available for an extra fee. The hotel said that there wasn’t enough room for another bed. There was no hand soap in the bathroom or hand towels. The location was awesome. The restaurant was gorgeous and all staff there were very friendly. I was hoping for more amenities "

"The hotel St James is our go to when in Manhattan. Convenient, good value, wonderful staff. The only thing on this trip was that the mattress was quite uncomfortable. We will still stay here again though as we’ve never had this issue before. "

"Great property close to Times Square. Rooms are small with no fridge or microwave, but this is an old, historic, well-kept property that we would definitely return to. Get to know "Bobby the Doorman", he's been there for 47 years!! Breakfast at Friedman's was great."

"I’d give The New Yorker Hotel a 6/10 overall. The location and building itself are nice, but my experience ended on a frustrating note. I was charged a smoking fee even though I have never smoked in my life. Apparently their sensor was triggered by hairspray, which set it off and resulted in the charge. Now I’m stuck dealing with disputing a fee for something that simply didn’t happen. It’s honestly been a huge pain to deal with, and situations like this make the stay feel a lot less enjoyable. I understand hotels enforcing no-smoking policies, but charging such a large fee without properly verifying what actually triggered the sensor feels unfair. Because of that experience, I can’t rate my stay higher than a 6/10."
