A hotel with character!
"The Grand hotel has received it's share of bad reviews, and we don't really understand why. It is a lovely old hotel. Yes, there are signs of age in places, but that's to be expected really. We were happy with our room, and all staff that we interacted with were very friendly and polite. A great place with interesting character!"

"From entering to exiting the hotel, the staff was very friendly, welcoming and the whole place was clean, nicely decorated, warm and welcoming too! The rooms were spotless, beds were very comfy. We had breakfast in the restaurant, the food was fresh, warm and the selection was amazing, catered for everyone including gluten free. The staff at breakfast were prompt, ensuring items were topped up when required and addressing customers concerns if they were any. "

"Stayed for 1 night on the way to Filey. Very comfortable stay in modern surroundings with a decent breakfast.
City centre is a short walk away. Would definitely recommend as a base to explore York. "
