The Parkside Hotel & Spa

8/10 Good

"The suite was spacious with lots of room for our three person family. The front desk was always helpful. There are bikes to borrow but you have to get one early. I wasn’t aware that there was no Air conditioning but I didn’t think to look for that assuming that the hotel would have it. We visited when it was quite warm. There are fans but the room was very warm. The windows are small and there wasn’t much of a breeze. We were also woken up each morning when the buses started running at 5am because the windows were open. This would stop me from booking in the future. The location was great and we could walk to wherever we needed to go."

"The staff were so welcoming and helpful. I felt good as soon as I arrived. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of the historic downtown area. Only a few blocks and from both the Empress Hotel and the Parliament building. You can see them as soon as you walk out of the hotel. It's also right next to the original Murchie's tea which was fun. The room was cute and clean. Not fancy but perfect for what I wanted. Beds were comfy. Air Conditioning worked great. Amazing value for the price. I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting a budget friendly motel with a perfect location. Thanks!"

"Such a charming historic hotel! The rooms were spacious and the window seat and sitting area made for a cozy room to relax in. The bed was the most comfortable of our trip and the room was quiet. And we appreciated having air conditioning. One thing to note is that the carriage house rooms do not have an elevator so if mobility is an issue, I would contact the hotel to ensure a specific room. The staff was super helpful and went above what we expected. We left the privacy sign on our door as we didn’t need our room serviced and came back to a basket with fresh towels, a new bottle of water, tea bags, etc. Breakfast was included and was much more than I expected. It’s a full dinning experience. You get fruit salad, pastry and a pick of one of three freshly made entrees. They were very accommodating of my being vegetarian and modified an option for me. There is coffee, tea and water provided at all times off the lobby. They also have an afternoon snack everyday. Parking is behind the hotel and also included with the room. The location is very nice and only about a 10 minute walk to major attractions like the BC museum and parliament. We would stay here again if we come back to Victoria."
