"La chambre tait propre et bien aménagée. Elle bénéficierait d'un petit rafraichissement, notemment dans la douche (buses de la tête de douche bouchée par le calcaire). Personnel très sympathique et chaleureux. La piscine ne ressemblait pas aux photos, fonctionnelle mais vieillotte. Le carrelage au sol autour de la piscine est un vrai piège en été, il devient brulant au soleil. Nid de guêpes juste à coté... je n'ai pas aimé mon passage à la piscine."

"What a gem of a find, we stayed for one night whilst travelling from England to Spain. We was warmly greeted on arrival and went straight into the pool after a very long day. The host then prepared a fantastic 3 course home cooked meal with wine. Room was spacious, clean and bed comfy, with a wonderful views over the vineyards. In the morning a lovely prepared breakfast outside and the friendly hosts couldn’t be more accommodating. We will 100% be returning each year as we travel to Spain, thank...

10/10 Excellent

"WE thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would highly recommend."

Tribe Carcassonne

8/10 Good

"The hotel has a great view of the castle and the roof top bar is definitely a bonus. The room was clean and have everything we needed however the toilet was in what can only be described as a cupboard with no space at all. The decor was too dark so much so that we couldn’t find the light switches! The carpet was black and when we dropped a black hair brush on the floor it took us 10 Minutes to find it!"

"Excellent location and the views from our room was worth the price of admission. The room felt a bit tired and bedding could use an up grade. Lots of nightly turnover so the hotel always felt very busy."

"Nice, clean place, close to exit."

Comfort Aparthotel Carcassonne

10/10 Excellent

"This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."

What is the best area to stay in Douzens?

The best area to stay in Douzens is within the village centre or just on its outskirts, offering a blend of convenience and peaceful countryside. The village centre of Douzens is quite compact, with the main amenities clustered around the Mairie (town hall) and the church. You'll find a local shop for essentials and a boulangerie for fresh bread and pastries, superb for a relaxed start to your day. The streets are generally quiet residential lanes, and the pace of life here is unhurried.Couples looking for a tranquil escape will appreciate staying directly in the village. It offers a genuine taste of rural French life, with easy access to local produce and a chance to enjoy leisurely walks through the vineyards that surround the village. It's an ideal base for exploring the Cathar castles and the Canal du Midi, both just a short drive away. For families, accommodation just outside the village, perhaps a gîte or a villa, often provides more space and private outdoor areas. It's also a time when the region's produce is abundant, and local markets are full of fresh, seasonal delights. For those looking to experience the wine harvest, late September and early October are particularly special. This period allows you to see the vineyards in full activity and often coincides with local wine festivals, offering a deeper insight into the region's winemaking heritage.
