This is NOT a 4- star hotel. Perhaps it has had a grander past but today it is 3-stars at best. We spent 2 nights. When we arrived the clerk took us to our room early which was nice but she didn’t tell us anything including the fact that breakfast was an additional 22e. The hotel has been renovated albeit very cheaply. We had to change rooms because the shower was so poorly designed that the bathroom became flooded with a short shower. The front desk clerk was reluctant to do anything, blaming Expedia for the room (???). It wasn’t until a man who worked in the restaurant forced the issue, recognized the problem and had our room changed. Breakfast was simple with a coffee machine dispensing average coffee and tepid water for tea. The views are spectacular even rooms facing the parking lot but still looking straight out to the Rhone. It is worth some of the less than stellar hotel amenities.

Your remarks have caught our full attention. You arrived to take possession of your room at noon even though the rule is from 3 p.m. Your room is ready, we have installed you there. A room directory is available in the room with all the information necessary for a good stay. Regarding the problem encountered with the shower, we are a little surprised because this installation is entering its 4th season and we have never had a flood like this before. Makes you wonder how did you do it? Without any difficulty, the initiative was taken to assign you another room. Since your stay, other guests have stayed in this room without having the slightest concern about flooding in the shower. We regret your incident and hope to be able to help you welcome during a future stay.

The Hotel is set beautifully on the banks of the picturesque Rhône River offering a beautiful , serene and sophisticated location and outlook. All the rooms we booked were roomy and thoughtful. Our dinner was superb and expertly prepared, served and presented- a truly lovely stay.

We often stay at the Beau Rivage en route to Provence. It never disappoints. The location is superb and the kitchen excellent.

Attractive location and setting. Two problems on our arrival: room had no river view as booked: dinner booking via Expedia site was ignored. We did get a room change after a second request. Big argument over dinner which we finally ate in the bar without a table.

great except no wifi
The hotel has an excellent location on the Rhone and the restaurant has both an excellent view of the river and superb cuisine. Service excellent too. Very annoying however that they had no wifi for our room. It was said to be down.

Hotel needing update
Excellent service and beautiful location just next to Rhone river. Free valet parking works well. Restaurant is world class, superb. Local wines are among the best in the world. It is a pity that the hotel is really 2-star level, outdated. But we will come again!

Very disappointed in our stay
We paid by PayPal before we arrived and was then told we hadn’t paid in front of other guests this was very embarrassing they even refused to look at my phone to check PayPal, we now have to go though Hotels.com to get a refund of the money that this hotel has had from us twice very unfair, Also the breakfast was disgusting everything was cold and dried out or the dishes were empty this was at 9’0clock in the morning we were told to sit where we wanted as it was a buffet then when we sat at a table that had two places set was told you can’t sit there as it’s for four people but NO other table was set or clean we were then told to wait while a table was cleaned and set for us this is not a four star hotel,

A great time on the Rhone

The receptionist on arrival was more interested in answering the telephone than managing our check in. She did not ask if we wanted a table for dinner. At 9.00pm we had a call in our room asking if we were going to dinner, to which the answer was no. The room was in an annex and while spacious had a rather down at heel feel, with the stairways in particular needing a good airing. That evening we said we would not be having breakfast at 19.00e each and she said she would take us off "the list". As we handed over the key on leaving, we paid our 2.30e local tax and left. However a few hours later we had an email from the hotel saying we had left without paying for one breakfast and one local tax? They are absolutely shambolic.

This is my second time to stay at Beau Rivage & it was as I remembered it. Beautiful setting & bed very comfortable. The room was cool in 31 degree heat. The location is excellent along the banks of the Rhône ideal for a post dinner stroll.

Beautiful hotel and location, expensive restaurant
Arrived when a wedding had just finished, very busy, hard to get a drink. Room average size only for the price but lovely big quality bed. Parking outside good but staff insisted on parking cars in their garage for security. Concierge excellent for this but a problem if you wanted to head out for dinner when the car was away as it needed 3 cars to be moved to get ours out! Fortunately some good restaurants close by as the hotel restaurant’s dinner menu started at 48 Euros. After leaving I found I had left 2 good shirts hanging in the closet. However when I wrote to the hotel they replied that they had not been found. Well...somebody there has them! Overall a nice hotel somewhat overpriced (ie $US10 for tea for two) with a good if just typical French breakfast. A beautiful location by the Rhone River and very handy to the great Condrieu vineyards.

A beautiful location next to the River Rhone. Its possible to walk for miles on a footpath by the river. The cuisine was superb - on a hot summers evening it was lovely to eat in the garden which faced the river. The room was also very pleasant and once again we were able to view the river from the room.

Great hotel, amazing views. Must do the dinner.
Wonderful hotel, great staff and amazing views of the Rhone. Be sure to ask for a river view room. It's worth the upgrade. Dinner is usually amazing and the service is impeccable. However, this time the wine tasting menu left much to be desired. Some of the dishes and many of the wines did not live up to the experience from last year. Still, highly recommended as a treat while visiitng one of the best wine regions in the world.

We stayed for 3 nights in Le Beau Rivage & were very impressed with the location, service & food. The hotel is situated on the right bank of the river Rhone quite near Vienne & is near Condrieu the wine district. There is a lovely walk along the riv near the hotel. The staff were very professional & the food was really excellent.

A great place to stay near vineyards of Condrieu.
This is an aging hotel, with a lot of local history. The restaurant has local specialties and the service is very good both at the reception and in the restaurant. The rooms are clean and well maintained, but rather dated, except for the great bathrooms. The wifi could be a little more convenient to use. It requires an elaborate i.d. and password that it generates only once, and then requires you to refresh the connection frequently from notes.

Nice but not a treat
The hotel was well maintained and the staff were courteous but it was not the treat we had hoped it would be. Our room included a nice large bedroom with a large, comfortable bed. It also included a second sitting room with a Murphy bed but the chairs were not comfortable to sit in which made it a useless space. We had an outside verandah but it had cheap plastic furniture and there was no view of the river ( which could easily have been remedied with a bit of pruning);there was a pot containing a cheap little plastic plant inside the door leading to the veranda. The bathroom was strangely set up with the toilet in front entranceway in a separate room in the from the rest of the bathroom -which is fine except that to wash your hands afterwards you have to go into the bedroom and cross to the other side around the bed to access the sink. Odd by itself but even stranger if someone was using the Murphy bed. When we ordered some champagne it was delivered promptly but the tray it was served on had a handle missing. The breakfast was served outside on a lovely terrace and was adequate but certainly not worth what they charge for it. . We did have dinner in the restaurant. The dining room presents lovely views of the river and the service was prompt and very attentive. They brought me an appetizer size for my meal - which was ample for me, but then tried to remedy it by bringing a double portion of the same dish when I finished. Our food was good but not great

Our second visit to this hotel and it was as good the second time. The room was comfortable and clean, the reception team and chamber service very good - the porter seemed a bit miffed we did not want him to park our car - probably losing out on a tip! The restauarnt was a gastronomique delight. The wine was excellent.

Excellent hotel, wonderful rural location
We stayed here as a stopover to experience a more rural location rather than nearby Lyon, and we were not disappointed. The hotel was located right by the river away from the main road (yet easy to find with a good map or sat nav), with great views of the surrounding countryside. Both the hotel and room were maintained to an excellent standard, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the service was impeccable, to the point that the hotel rang us to confirm whether we wanted evening dinner reservations because we were arriving late - we were glad we did as the restaurant food and service was excellent. Final comment is on the car parking - the hotel operates a free valet parking service so the car is securely stored overnight. I'd recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again if in the area.

Lovely hotel overlooking the Rhone
Get a room with a balcony and have dinner on the beautiful terrace. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Food was great and the cheese board looked incredible but we'd eaten too much to attempt it sadly.

The location of the hotel on the bank of the Rhone near a particularly lovely bend in the river is superb, and the hotel is very nice though not luxurious. We were disappointed only with the restaurant; after a grand lunch at a vineyard in Chateauneuf du Pape we weren't interested in a huge dinner so asked to share the gourmet menu, thinking we could each manage to eat half of it, and we were -- oddly, I thought -- refused (should have just ordered one for one of us, saying the other didn't want anything).

Traditional French family hotel
A nice traditional French hotel. Our room was up two steepish flights of stairs and the air con didn't work but fresh air was pleasant enough. A good dinner in the evening overlooking the Rhone. The train runs nearby and you know when it is coming through . A good stopover hotel with character.

Le Beau Rivage - just ok
We stayed for one night here, as we were driving south to Spain and wanted to avoid the centre for Lyon. Check in was smooth and efficient, lady at the desk was lovely. The main hotel building did smell really musty (reminded me of an old folks home!). Our room was in another building and was large and comfortable with lovely views over the Rhone. It was bright bright pink however, seemed really out of character with the rest of the building! We were recommended to go to On Dirait Le Sud in the town for dinner - and it really wasn't good. Beef tartare was literally raw mince, there didn't seem to be the option to have it sealed outside - so that was hard work for my partner. I had the volaille (chicken) -it was boiled with skin on and was so unappetising. So would try to get into the hotel restaurant if possible. Other than that, breakfast was in a lovely setting with unusual coffee pots!
