It was a good hotel in a quirky way.
All of the staff was so helpful , especially Carlos, who went out of his way
The full English breakfast was tops also
we had 3 rooms - one of the couples had to be moved 3 times due to the overwhelming stench of sewerage .
The bathrooms ALL overflowed into the bedrooms .
Curtains were missing from the one room .
The bar had ONE beer in stock .
I could go on - terrible .
The staff however were delightful under hard conditions
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was beautifully decorated and very clean. Bed was comfortable and room was very big with sitting area and dining table. Close to V&A area, short Uber trip. Few negatives were tv crooked on wall, no bowls and only1 spoon in the kitchen. Beautiful copper bath but able to see into shower and toilet from sitting area and no way to make private. No hot water in kitchen sink.
Very good and well located hotel. Original as it was an Old Foundry. The staff is very professional and always ready to help and serve the customers. Thank you to Kelvin.
A wonderful location and even better service made for a terrific stay! The rooms were great sizes, cleaned thoroughly daily, breakfast was quick and tasty, and the staff was quick to answer any and all questions. I really felt at home and at ease for my week long stay!
The hotel and the staff were amazing, so cool interior in an old foundry! The room was comfortable and the staff super nice and helpful. The location is very close to the waterfront and easy to access by foot and cab
Beautifully decorated Hotel, very unique modern style. The Team was super helpful with everything. And it's a walking distance to the V&A Waterfront. I will definitely come back again.
Hotel has industrial and unique interior design. Don’t expect flash. Do expect wonderfully friendly staff and eclectic feel. We were scammed by the airport taxi so be aware to get a taxi taxi. Not people who say they are.
The receptionist staff were very helpful with this towards our credit card. Especially Azola. Breakfast was great too.
Thank you.
The staff were incredible and honestly made me feel so welcome.
Considering the price, i was a little disappointed, the room had a really bad smell and there was mould growing in the bathroom (particularly on the ceiling and around extractor fan) which was concerning.
The location is awesome!
Overall a lovely property but the room may need a little TLC.
Excellent place to stay as a gateway to the waterfront. Lovely spacious room. Extremely friendly staff. It took us 10 minutes to walk to the waterfront and it was safe.
I love the repurposing of old buildings, and The Old Foundry has done this with great practical and aesthetic execution. The room was small, but we knew this when we booked. It had all the amenities we needed, including Africology products in the bathroom. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly, helpful and responsive to every need.
Clean and quiet property in old warehouse section close to V&A waterfront area. Not a great view out the front but this place has character and not your average modern hotel layout but shabby chic with a bit of funk. Great breakfasts and Giorgio restaurant downstairs in courtyard for dinner. Reasonably priced for location!
I loved The Foundry Hotel! My husband and decided to have a little mini-holiday and love the decor and space.
Sadly, a flood in the middle of the night, meant we had to change rooms at 1 am (suitcases open, etc etc).
The staff was great about it (and the night receptionist gave us a nice bottle of white wine to say thank you for our understanding), but I haven't heard anything from management about compensating us in any way (although I did ask).
Staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel is shared with hot office spaces so different from what you may be used to, but not to the detriment of our stay. Just a little quirky. Good location within walking distance of V&A waterfront although recommended to travel by uber / taxi after dark. Overall a good base for our weeks stay and good value compared to other hotels we had looked at. Lots of security personnel around the area which may make you feel nervous or reassured. We felt quite safe from our experience.
In an old warehouse area, completely renovated and close walk to waterfront. Rooms are clean comfortable large and nicely decorated with stylish old furniture. Bathrooms and showers and modern and great! Not a great view from the front but that’s ok!
Enjoyed the daily breakfast and walking to the V&A only took 10-15 minutes so very convenient. Hotel was clean and spacious. One thing to mention was you can hear water pipes when showering which did not bother us one bit.
Great hotel and staff Good location , but not great 15 min walk to VandA Told not to do it at night even if only 15mins!
Apart from that good hotel The bed in room 2 is horrendous
with the mattress needing changed many years ago. We moved room which was good Good breakfast and parking A few shops just around the corner and also a15 min walk to City Centre
The staff at check out where great. Yet they had me up stairs after confirming with them for 3 months that I will not be set up in a room that required me to climb steps. They change me to another room but the room was not what I thought I was going to have at the end. The bathroom was small and I had to crawl to the shower since it was not accessible. It was a hard stay for me.
This place was quite the pleasant surprise! Nestled just on the edge of the wharf district, the Old Foundry hotel was clean and welcoming with just a touch of a modern, yet 1930’s feel.
The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the walk-in rain shower was amazing.
But the best part of this hotel is the staff and the cafe.
The staff waited on us hand and foot, and even remembered our breakfast orders from the previous days. Anything we needed and they were on top of it immediately.
As for the cafe, the food was incredible. We were especially fans of the French toast and the BLT, both of which were probably the best we’ve ever had.
You won’t regret picking the place. A quick 10 minute walk to the water front, or about $4 USD Uber ride.
This hotel is in a nice location, close to the V&A Waterfront but also not far from downtown. The hotel has a very eccentric layout; there are floors, half-floors, quarter-floors etc. with steps between them. Also, the rooms are a bit eccentric: there is no room light switch near the bed, only by the door. The breakfast is not buffet-style; you pick one main dish and one beverage. The breakfast quality is quite good. There's a busy atmosphere, with people working on their laptops everywhere. A disadvantage was that my room faced onto a very busy one-lane street, where activity ended after midnight and started (garbage collection and deliveries) very early the next morning. For security reasons, the front of the hotel is barricaded from late evening to morning, so you have to enter from the street behind and go through an office building. (My morning departing Uber was confused.)
