"Room was outdated, chipping paint, lifting wallpaper, dusty vents. Chargers on lamps didn't work well. Couch was not appealing looking to want to sit on. Lobby at one point at a class group that was so large that it was impossible to get on the elevator to get back to our room for a second, it would have taken much longer to wait and wasn't worth it. Felt like I shouldn't have to wait on line for 30 minutes just to get back to my room. "

"The room was small and had the bare necessities. However, at checking, I was told they charge $20 'amenities type' fee. Having no recourse, I paid. When using the sin & tub, the water had to run for over 20 minutes before there was som warm/hot water. The water fluctuated in temp while using it, so that was less than pleasant. "

"Location was perfect for us. Property was nice and the staff was excellent....attentive and thoughtful. The property is older and shows its age a bit but the overall appearance was nice. Only issue was how slow the elevators were.....one time it took 7 minutes and another time 5 minutes. All other times it was there withing a couple of minutes. The bar was lively and lots of fun."

"Maria was exception. She listened to my concerns and assured me that my room would be set when I got back. I heard her explain it to the manager. My room was not ready when I arrived at 6:30 and she told the manager that I would just drop my bags and come back later. When I came back the manager was rude sucking her teeth responding to another guest rudely. She nastily informed me that at 10pm my room was still not available. I was quite surprised since I was promised that it would be. The manager explained that she was going to put us in a queen bedroom (which we reserved a king). At 10pm I was not going to argue since we just wanted to get some sleep after a long day. She repeated many times that it is considered an upgrade. I just wanted what we reserved nothing more. I saw Maria again at check out and she apologized for the management and assured me that this is not the norm. Everyone else we came in contact with with the exception of the manager at the desk was very nice and professional."

"No restaurant. I was on the sixth floor, I had to go all the way to the basement for ice. The air conditioning didn’t cool the room down."

"The light for the “E” on Hotel Empire was out. That was just ironic. The iron, ironing board, a lamp, and the window were all broken. That was annoying. The air conditioning being broken was the real problem. After 3 trips to the front desk I asked for a new room. My fourth trip to the front desk was because my “upgraded room” was a downgrade from a king to two twin beds (they just lied and hope I wouldn’t come back). Things happen, things break…. I get it. The staff couldn’t have been less helpful and honestly, half the room was broken. My wife begs that I add that the bathroom is so small that they had to put the garbage outside and the sink has no ledge. Rooftop bar and location are awesome to be fair. There are 500 other hotels - choose one of those."
