Best hotel to stay with the family. Especially with the kitchen. Staff is very friendly and helpful all the time. Best cleaning service and waking distance to botanical gardens, opera house, harbour bridge, circular quay and king cross train station.

The hotel booking was very late, and the night manger was amazing. He helped us with multiple taxi bookings. The hotel room was extremely quiet and the beds were very comfortable. Great area close to the city and plenty cafes or places to eat near by.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a little small and the furnishings were dated and a bit worn. But the neighborhood is great and the view from the upper floors (If you get the right room) is absolutely stunning! I was on the 9th floor and had a panoramic view of the bridge, opera house, and harbor. Worth it for that alone.

We had a beautiful view on the 9th floor over Sydney harbor. Everything was clean, and we could make our iwn breakfast or dinner in the room.

Extremely Overpriced Mediocre Place with Tiny Cramped Rooms. In all fairnesss, it was for 3 days at New Years so I expected to pay a high price. However, based on pictures, etc. I expected much more. The place and furnishings were just mediocre and the rooms were extremely tiny. One costing $4,050.00 for 3 days had a good view of bridge, but was tiny even for just two people. The second room had a view of the water, but was also small and cost $2,378.00. The third room, with absolutely no view, except for another building cost $1,646.00. The rooms appeared much larger in the pictures. Had I known how tiny the rooms were to try and move around in, I would have spent $8,0074.00 for just 3 nights. Looking around, there were much nicer places, with great views at a much more reasonable price.

I mostly like the view of harbour bridge from hotel room and the tiny kitchenette with all the cutlery and utensils. Room was perfect size and clean. Bathroom was good size and had everything we need. Location had easy access to transport and CBD. There was many shops, dining options nearby. Commonwealth bank was next door with easy access to ATM. There was also a small swimming pool outside behind the reception for the residents of the hotel. It was quite safe to walk around the area. Only thing I didn't like is the parking space for the cars and it was bit narrow to drive around the parking lot.

We booked the apartment on advertisement that says kitchen available in apartment. when we checked in, we found the cooktop for the kitchen was camp style single portable electrical heater. We spoke with reception before coming to confirm availability of kitchen as we were travelling with young kids. Even after reporting once we checked in, they were not at all sorry for incorrect advertisement. I have to check out in 2 hours. Room was advice for 4 people but when you put bed for fourth person you cannot walk in room. The cleaning of the room and hotel was sub-standard compared to rating it have. We do not suggest this hotel if travelling with young kids. I booked accommodation via Expedia and they were very helpful in this stressful situation.

Staff was friendly besides front desk. The facility needs some obvious updates everywhere it appears outdated. The hotel room furniture was uncomfortable. There was dust in some areas and we were provided towels that had stains on them. 5 star location, 3 star hotel.

We stayed in a harbour view room on the 9th floor. Wow! What a view! We could see the city, the horror and right out to North Head. We couldn't say there for hours. We did get a coffee and a toastie for brekky and decided it view was the best in town so we ate in the room. The room itself was a little small. Bieber it had a renovated bathroom and great kitchenette. The bed was an old fashioned pull down from the wall type. I was dubious, however it was very comfortable. This place is a winner!

Poor Communication & Poor Response
The stay at the Macleay was very disappointing. We had booked a two day post-operative stay to begin recovery from major surgery. On arrival there was a note on the lift to say that renovations were to be carried out on the following day from 10am - 4pm. The works involved jack-hammering of bathroom tiles. These commenced the next day and the noise from these works in the adjoining room was unbearable. Needless to say there was no rest during this period which was the purpose of the stay. We addressed this with the reception staff and received a very curt and unsympathetic response. The person on duty insisted that an email had been sent to advise us of this, but further investigation showed that this did not occur. We were not informed of these works prior to arrival which would have allowed us to switch hotels.

I would have rated it excellent in all categories if the room we were first allocated was up to the standard of the replacement room. Room 203, the first allocation was poor in both condition and layout, it requires a thorough and immediate redesign and redecoration.

Fabulous hotel with lovely staff.
What a fabulous place to stay while in Sydney. We're so happy we have found this hotel. Fantastic view. Close to everything either walking or public transport. We Didn't know it had a kitchenette either and it came in very handy. The staff on the desk were so lovely. They let us check in earlier as our plane was early. We so appreciated that. Thank you. We will definitely be staying again when we finally get back to Sydney.
