“great value hotel in a superb location”

very good hotel in a fantastic location AND free parking (compared to other hotels who can charge as high as >$40/day.) the room was very clean, the shower was relatively roomy, nice big mirror, dark curtains (could easily sleep in), comfortable bed, slightly firm and we requested a room in the back which was nice and quiet. my problems with the room, which are for info only becasue I would still recommend the hotel: room was cold and I didn't see a thermostat to heat it up (maybe I missed it?). it made it a little too cold for my liking for sleeping (only a thinish layer of one sheet, blanket and cover). overall great value and superb location.

“Good Location”

The hotel was in a very convenient area and the staff was courteous. Free parking is a huge plus! We walked or took public transportation everywhere in San Francisco. The hotel is in a noisy part of town and since we were there in August, we needed to sleep with the windows open since there is no air flow in the room - luckily it was a cold August. Our room smelled a little funny but I think it was just from the heater first being turned on. Overall, it was clean and in a great location.

“Would definately stay here again!”

True enough when you first drive up to this hotel your like OMG regarding the surroundings, but after you check in and go up to you room, its all ok. The staff at check in were very friendly. The room was very clean and the beds were comfy. The continental breakfast consists of two wrapped danishes and coffee in your room, this didnt matter to us as we went out to eat anyway. I do suggest requesting a room on the back side of hotel, it is quieter there. A big plus was the free parking and I totally felt like my car was going to be safe parked there, I could actually see it from our room. Another plus was access to a computer in the lobby that was totally free, they also have wi-fi which was great for the kids. This hotel is not very far from tourist spots, we hopped on a bus right around the corner from hotel that took us straight down to Fishermans Wharf, also right in the area is Little Italy where we had a great pizza. All in all I would recommend this hotel. The price was great compared to other hotels in the area and the free parking was great!!

“Exotic and Convenient Location”

The Royal Pacific is perfectly positioned for easy walkabouts to Giardelli, Fishermans Wharf, the Modern Museum of Art and, of course, Chinatown. The hotel staff was quite cordial and helpful in every way. The cost was very economical in relation to other S.F. hotels. It's not a 5 star hotel and maybe not even a 4 star, but you're right in Chinatown with all of its exotic ambiance and busy-ness. The room was very clean and tidy, and we had a street side 4th floor unit with wonderful views. We loved it, and Grant Avenue, which is great for an evening stroll, is just around the corner. We felt completely safe in every moment, with many parents out for evening strolls with little ones. Some reviewers have complained about the street noise at night, but for us it was simply apart of the Chinatown experience and wouldn't have it any other way. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. There are also plenty of interesting restaurants, of all sorts, nearby as well as a Walgren Superstore just around the corner. We found also a very good western-style breakfast restaurant nearby, through Kerouac Alley off Grant Street, turn right passing the City Light Bookstore on Columbus Avenue and it's on the right. Parking at the Royal Pacific is a bit cramped, but we never really experienced any difficulty, nor was our vehicle tampered with at any time. When we return to S.F., we intend to stay at the Royal Pacific again. (P.S.) Have at least one meal at Bubba Gump's on Fisherman's Wharf.

“Will stay again”

This hotel is ideally located and cheaper then everythign else around plus the free parking was a great bonus. Left the car in the lot and walked the city with knowledge that our car was safe. If your a light sleeper request a room in the back, street noise in the front of the hotel can keep you up at night expecially if your there on a weekend. Plenty to see and eat, walking chinatown at night is an interesting experience.

“Great base to explore and the only place to stay in San Francisco!”

Very happy with this accommodation - close to Chinatown (yummy food!) and cafes/restaurants, easy access to public transport, free luggage storage, and great staff who are happy to help. The room itself was very clean, quiet, fresh and comfortable, a great base to explore the city. Great value, in-room coffee and breakfast danishes included, and free internet access in the reception. My partner and I stayed here for 7 nights after an international flight and were so pleased with it we stayed here again on our last night in the US. Highly recommended!

“In the heart of San Francisco.”

This is a perfect hotel for tourists, because of its central location to tourist favorites AND the old heart of San Francisco.

“Great and safe location, clean hotel”

Hotel was in great location, right on the border of chinatown and italian district. Felt very safe even late at night. Brothels are only about a minute away but still safe. We were travelling with 2 young kids and had no problems. Hotel staff are nice and helpful howeve could do with learning a little more about questions tourists may ask for eg transport questions etc.

“Location, Location, Location!”

If you like adventure this is the hotel for you. You are in the heart of China Town (not the tourist area believe me). Just blocks from Union Square, North Beach, Market St and the streetcars. There were wonderful restaurants all around us and the Chinese markets were a world unto themselves. The rooms were very clean and looked like they had been updated recently. Our room was small but comfortable. The staff was very helpful and courteous. My only complaints are that you could hear loud people in the hallway but it was very minimal, the wi-fi was not very good and if you wanted a fridge you had to pay extra for one. The price was reasonable and we could walk every where. The very best thing about this hotel is that it has free on-site parking, a rare find in SF!

“The Only Place for US”

Great location if you want to explore Chinatown, North Beach and Coit Tower, and affordable for San Francisco. Free parking inside the compound a real plus. Clean and comfortable rooms. Upper floors facing north recommended for view and quietness.
