“After a great experience? Do not stay here!”

will not recommend to someone celebrating birthday, family, friends or workmates. the sauna was disgusting and messy with towels on the floor. the pool was extremely salty. overall a really bad experience for our first wedding anniversary.

Area recommendations
Go to federation square if you enjoy friendly people. You won't get it in the hotel.

“Good hotel for business travel - minus the $29 charge for wifi”

Nice refurb; women (and men?) will appreciate the black padded coat hangers in the robe; like the energy efficient lighting in bathrooms. Great front of house; Collins restaurant great for a sit down between meetings with a cuppa. Now for the minuses: Still charging for internet: Why is it that high end hotels insist on profiteering by charging $29 for 24 hr internet use? It's obscene. i can go to the local Macdonalds and get free wifi. Step up the game guys - if you're a business hotel, this should be free (include it in the room cost at least, so it's not so offensive). Aircon - please please please either allow the aircon to go lower than 18.5 degrees OR provide an alternative to the 3 blanket warm doona on the bed (no sheets, no cotton blankets). How anyway manages to sleep in that warm temp is beyond me.

“Good, central accommodation”

Stayed at the Grand Hyatt for an overnight stay. Room was quite large and very comfortable. The rooms are getting a little tired and could do with a refresh but clean and amenities were very nice. Staff were very friendly. Would recommend.

Traveller's tip
Had dinner at GingerBoy restaurant - would certainly recommend. Great food and a very funky atmosphere.

“Great location--too bad about the staff”

The newly renovated Hyatt in Melbourne is in a perfect location in the CBD, spanking new and close to everything. But my twin room was small, and the staff were consistently surly. It took 2 hours and 4 phone calls to get the luggage upstairs. (We took two rooms.) The bellboy asked me to move the car so "my luggage would be closer", even though we had hurriedly dumped everything on the pavement as there was a queue. And they tell you very nicely as you leave that your $200 credit card room deposit will be returned within SEVEN business days after your departure. Can't they just check the room to see if you took the sheets. It's the bank's fault they said. The gym was the silver lining--great gym and super friendly staff. Maybe they should move them downstairs.
