“Hotel Velada”
The hotel was clean, and comfortable. The staff all spoke English. The attached cafe was convenient, though the menu was limited. There was a fitness center, but the hours were very limited and closed for odd reasons (Madrid local holiday, not in evenings, etc.) The wireless was satisfactory. Cabs were easy to find on the street and the hotel was pretty quite. All in all a good place to stay half way between airport and city center. There was a metro stop less than 1/4 mile up the hill with direct service downtown to Plaza Mayor/ del Sol area.
“Velada”
Although we all know rooms & beds run small in Europe, this was a little too small. To make a larger bed they combine 2 small ones, which would be ok if they didn't constantly push away from each other because they are on wheels on a wood floor. The beds were also hard as a rock! As for the service, that was good but know what you want right away because if it's busy you won't see service for a while. The restaurant is nice. The staff there is very accommodating and it was rarely busy when we went. The surrounding neighborhood has little to nothing around it. You can, however, take the underground into the city where all the action is. The underground is only a few blocks away. There is also no view at the hotel as it is surrounded by buildings and parking.
“OK place.”
I picked this hotel due to proximity to the airport. It was a bit farther then I had hoped.
“Would definitely go back!”
We were very happy with this hotel. It was just a few blocks from the metro which made it easy to get anywhere in the city. The hotel was really beautiful, modern, and clean. I plan on staying here upon my next trip to Madrid. I highly recommend this place!
“I'd go back”
Fairly quiet location on a mixed commercial/residential street. Less than a 5 minute walk to closest metro entrance (exit toward Calle Aranaz, Ciudad Lineal stop on #5 line, walk straight down the street from the exit). This entrance though does close at 9:00 PM. I walked back to hotel at night (8 PM) and felt safe. About 20 to 30 minutes and one change of metro lines to get to central Madrid (Sol and Banco of Espana stations). Front desk spoke English and was helpful. Free lobby internet and free safe in room. Breakfast was not included in my rate.
“Great value. Excellent breakfast buffet. Modern bathroom.”
Hotel in not in the central city but easily accessible by Metro. Hotel says it has complimentary shuttle service but it does NOT operate on the weekends. Taxi fare from the airport for 4 people was 23 Euros. Hotel cater to bus tours and has a large dining room with a free large buffet. The food and service was excelent. Internet in the lobby and free Wifi in the lobby worked perfectly.
“Great price - great breakfast”
Despite a little trouble with the transport from the airport, staying in Hotel Velada has been really good decicion. Nice and quiet area and perfect hotel to spend either business or leisure time in Madrid.
“My Wife and I Highly recommend Hotel Velada Madrid”
Although Expedia highly recommended the hotel, my wife and I noticed that there was only one reviewer. Consequently, we were a little apprehensive booking the hotel. We were therefore pleasantly surprised to find out that that in all important matters, including the condition of our room and the hotel, the neighborhood and the nearby availability of public transport including the excellent Metro, conditions were more than satisfactory. In addition, the price was quite reasonable and the hotel offered free transportation to and from the airport--you need however to get in touch with the hotel prior to your arrival. In short, you couldn't get a better deal!
“convenient hotel”
well the hotel is located so convenient with the metro very close...so that save you money bc no need to rent car the hotel provide transportation to the airport for free, even is not 24 hrs, when i've been there i got decent prices for a 4 stars hotel
