“Very nice, but hard to find”

We were there for one night only. The hotel is very nice with all of the amenities you expect in an upscale hotel. The room was suppose to be non-smoking, but you could definitely smell smoke when you entered the room. The staff was very accomodating and most helpful. The hotel is very difficult to find even with GPS. Our driver had to walk around the building to find the entrance. I would stay there again just because of the staff and the relatively close proximity to the airport.

“The metro is your friend”

Although a good three blocks from the metro station, the Barcelo Torre Arias was a superb accomodation for my 4 night stay. The staff is friendly, rooms tres chic, modern, and comfortable, and once you figure out the train system, not that far off the beaten path. My only complaint was that there weren't dinner options nearby and after a long day of travelling, I didnt feel like an added excursion. Thankfully there's a supermarket right around the corner ;-)

“Barcello in Madrid”

This is simply a very modern and comfortable hotel in a very quiet neighborhood. Its located less than 15 minutes from the Madrid international airport.

“Good Value”

Friendly and helpful staff. Very nice rooms. 10 minute walk to metro station - not a problem if you are not in a hurry but summer can be hot in Madrid... Good choice if you want a good room to sleep in and cannot afford staying in the high profile hotels or in the Puerta del Sol area...

Must see

This is city has so much museums and monuments you will have a hard time choosing what to do – see them all if you can. But there is one thing you also have to do and that is simply walking the streets of Madrid, especially in the Puerta del Sol area to feel the vibrant city. Don´t miss "El Rastro" on Sundays mornings (subway station: La Latina). Also don´t miss lunch on San Miguel Market!

Dining

Madrid has got it all - from local restaurants to international cuisine - take our pick. If you are into Italian restaurants I´ll recommend a not so touristic place - Icaro - it is not cheap but it is great. You must try Spanish cuisine of course...

Family-friendly activities

Warner Park! Great for families - great attraction for kids but great attraction for adults too...

Nightlife

If you go to visit Madrid you must go to a rooftop bar. The best ones are: for a more intimate "chic" evening: Urban Hotel (less area available) less intimate but also "chic": The Penthouse - Hotel ME (bigger than Urban´s rooftop)

Visit CND theaters - Centro Dramatico Nacional - wonderful plays - Subway station Lavapies.

“Nice, Clean Hotel”

The Barcelo was great. Easy and free Internet access, very clean rooms though the rooms are a bit small. Staff was always courteous, which is a bit difficult to find out in Spain! We liked it so much we booked it again when we returned to Madrid a week later. **Note: the Metro is not very close so you will need to walk for about 10-15 minutes.

“Good for One Night”

I picked this hotel for the night before heading back to the US after a semester abroad. The staff was friendly, spoke great English, and were helpful. The room was comfortable, yet it felt a little squarish, a little sharp. I know that's a weird way to describe a room, but to me it just had that feel. Bring a ethernet cord if you want to use the Internet in your room, as the WiFi doesn't hold a connection otherwise. They may have the cables at the front desk, but I had my own. The location of this hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Ciudad Lineal metro station. Taking a taxi to the airport can get surprisingly expensive, especially since the hotel is about 10 minutes away. Overall, I'd recommend the hotel if you're on your way out of Madrid and can deal with not being in the center of Madrid.
