“Not so beautiful one day and perfect the next”

Pool area is small and they won't servce drinks in glasses, I had to have my coffee in a take away container..yuk and alcohol in plastic... Parking is not included and you have to pay $15 a day to park your car which was not advisertised. For the price I expected a lot more considering it is the Gold Coast not hamilton island...

“Great stay overall with a slight blip in service”

In short, I recommend this hotel to families looking for a great holiday in the Gold Coast. For details of our stay, please read on... The service was flawless during the first 7 days of our stay: - Great, courteous and welcoming people on the front desk - Very comfortable atmosphere at the pool side - the breakfast buffet was top notch - I always got my morning paper - They gave us free parking too! BUT for some mysterious reason it went somewhat downhill during the next 3: - We came home to uncollected rubbish - mildly dirty plates and cutlery were left on our bar (handwashed?) - And the coffee facilities were lacking In spite of these, the view from our room was to die for. There is an abundant number of eateries around the hotel. Room service food was quite pleasing. Parking was convenient. Surfer's Paradise is a 2 minute drive (about 4km away# so we got to enjoy THE beach lifestyle there during the day while skipping the noise and alcohol-fueled raucous at night. We even had a chance to meet the Meter Maids. The famous theme parks can be quite crowded during peak season - duh! It felt like being in a 3rd-world country. We bought super-passes to most of them and but ended up cancelling half-way due to the heat and endless queing. The food wasn't too good either. For those who love shopping, taking the 15km trip inland to Harbour Town would give you the most pleasure. Hopefully you have enough spare luggage space as there are some good deals to be found there.

“Why keep the cleaners happy and not the guests”

Very stylish hotel, close to the beach and coffee shops. Many of the rooms were empty but the reception staff still decided to put a family with a young child in the room next to us, thanks ........very thoughtful, I suppose they thought I didn't need sleep and would be entertained by endless crying and screaming through the adjoining door. It must be so the cleaners don't have far to walk between rooms. How about you put couples with no kids on the upper floors and families full of screaming kids on the lower floors.

“Ni hotel - but feeling a little tired and cutting”

The hotel is generally very pleasant, but failed to quite live up to 5 star standards. There is a tourism slump in Australia, and it did feel like they had cut back in lean times. The mattress in particular was past its use by date. When I looked at the mattress it was stained and had lost it shape. One of the blinds was falling apart, and not all the free to air TV channels were available which is frustrating (ABC 24). Being greeted with a "bonjoir" was novel, although I quickly learnt this was the only French word the counter staff knew. Great location, and handy being near the shops and beach.

“Ideally situated for beach, shopping & casino”

We arrived in Oz on an early flight and got to the hotel about 9.30am. We were able to check in straight away which was a bonus, although we did have to upgrade which wasn't a problem as we thought we would treat ourselves anyway! The room was clean and had everything we needed, although the bed was far too soft for us - so we didn't have a decent nights sleep whilst there but I suppose they can't please everyone with their beds! It was centrally located, great for people watching from the balcony on Saturday night! Great having the monorail to the casino on the doorstep too! Having stayed in the Sofitel in Dubai we felt the hotel looked the little tatty in places, but probably spoilt in Dubai I suspect. We would stay again. Great breakfast at Taste just round the corner, great value for money.
