“Great location and amenities”

Hotel Globus was a wonderful choice for our stay in Florence. We arrived and left Florence via train and the hotel's proximity to the train station made this extremely convenient. The sites of Florence are all walkable from each other and this hotel is not only close to the train station but also the Central Market and the Duomo. Free wifi and complementary laptop in the room came in very handy. One of us could use the internet with our ipad and the other could use the hotel laptop. The only negative was that the breakfast wasn't very good. It got us through until lunch, though.

When to go
Late September/early October was perfect. The weather was beautiful. It was still really crowded in Florence, but I noticed that the wait for restaurants and sites weren't nearly as bad as warned.
Must see
We highly recommend the tours (Florence walking, Uffizi, and Accademia) by Art Viva. Their guides are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Us not being all that knowleadgeable about art, the art education we received during our Uffizi and Accademia tours was extremely valuable. It also helped us have a greater appreciation of the art in the Vatican Museum a few days later.
Dining
We had a nice dining experience at Trattoria Marione. Via della Spada, 27 red. For cheaper bottled beverages and snacks/lunch, seak out super markets. There is a nice, large super market called Conad just across the Ponte Vecchio on the south side of the river. Take a left on the first street after you cross the bridge. The BEST gelato we had in Italy was in Florence at Gelateria Carrozze on the north side of the river near the Ponte Vecchio.

“Linda”

I was extremely happy with the gentleman at the desk. He was always very helpful. I was surprised to see a computer near the front desk for our use, free of charge. Morning breakfast was very good. The best we had during our week's stay in Italy. The hotel was very convenient to everything. We were very happy with our stay in Florence.

“Excellent Location”

This hotel has an excellent location. You can walk to many attractions, restaurants, shops. Would stay here again. Staff very friendly and helpful.

“May not be best value, but would certainly compare again.”

Globus is well located, quiet, and staff is exceptional. Breakfast service is great, internet service included and bathrooms modern. When it rains, some rooms on main floor may smell of sewer, which staff says they cannot fix because of old infrastructure in Florence. We moved rooms and problem was not apparent in that room. Be ready to haul your bags up to the 1st floor where check-in is located. That's pretty standard in Europe's 2 and 3-star hotels. Found another hotel that is very, very similar only a block away that was quite a bit lower-priced.

“anonim”

The hotel has a very good location, just 2 min to Medici Chappel and 5 min to Dome. The room was very small, but clean. I had just 2 kiwi fruits for breakfast, everything else is junk food.

“OK Hotel”

The hotel room was clean & neat, however, the room is quite small (relative to our stay in other hotels in Rome, Milan, Venice, etc.). Also, it is located in the small street which can be quite noisely in the night-time. In addtiona, the AC in our room wasn't working properly, so we were force to open the window all the time.

“Charmer”

“The Hotel is Good not Great”

This was a good hotel the location was very conivient walkin distance from train & bus station. The neighborhood was cool lots of stores, restaurants & close to the major sites The service was good plus the free Internet help. The room was extremely small but it was very clean & modern! The breakfast was good as well. Overall I give this hotel a B
