As the locals joke: “Lemon & Paeroa is world famous in New Zealand”, but they’ve got more to brag about than inventing this soft drink.

Everyone who rocks up in Paeroa is greeted by a 7m-high bottle of L&P, a fizzy drink made from the local spring water. Paeroa is also the “Antiques Capital of New Zealand” and is famous for being the gateway to the Hauraki Rail Trail and the Karangahake Gorge Walkway. The Beach Bach is a great house for a relaxing holiday. It was clean with all the household items we needed. Especially good is the well fenced yard so we could relax while our 2 little dogs played safely outside. The hosts are very pleasant and helpful.

It's not a resort town. Once you realise it's the sort of place that's gets serious about 'Duck Season' and has a lot of 'hot utes', you can relax and enjoy being with the 'locals'. Eat at the RSA and explore the surrounding Coromandel region.
